"Captain America: Civil War" directors Joe and Anthony Russo are in with the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the long haul. The brothers will stick with Marvel Studios through the second "Avengers: Infinity War" film in 2019, and they don't seem to be slowing down. During an interview with Collider, they discussed who they'd love to bring into the MCU and if they'll stick with Marvel after "Infinity War."

When asked which character he'd most like to bring into the MCU fold, Joe Russo said, "Wolverine."

"Yeah," Anthony Russo agreed.

"First favorite character growing up was Spider-Man, second was Wolverine. One of my most-prized possessions is 'Incredible Hulk' #181. It was his first appearance," Joe Russo shared. "It's in my collection. It's sitting in a safe. I won't disclose where it is."

"I know where it is," Anthony Russo pitched in. "And I would say Wolverine as well, for all of the exciting reasons that we all gravitate to."

Of course, Fox currently holds the rights to the X-Men franchise, including Wolverine, but stranger things have happened than two studios making an agreement; after all, Sony and Marvel Studios reached a deal to share Spider-Man's rights, enabling the character to appear in "Captain America: Civil War."

I do think trust you.
>>
>>82491886
yeah good luck with that.
>>
I can't imagine live action Wolverine as anyone but Hugh Jackman
>>
Please no.

The X-Men movies and MCU have their own, nice separate universes. Don't destroy one to do something that would destroy the other.
>>
>>82491886
dunno about Wolverine, but I'd love to see the GLA make into the MCU, especially Squirrel Girl

He can play OML
>>
But haven't webeen given enough of sniktbub by Fox? Why can't they give us what we really want, an X-Men movie where Cyclops in the leader, main character and not upstaged?
>>
Great on paper, but fuck lets not muddle the MCU with mutants now. As much as I love Wolverine, hes fine where he is. Better off bartering for Fantastic Four or reviving Ghost Rider
>>
>>82492065
All the better. I want an Old-Man Logan movie, though they'll probably go full liberties on the plot, like with CW, since most of the villains so far are dead. Of course, they can just play it kinda safe and say that Red Skull never really died when he went through the portal.

>>82492217
>FF

Literally the only reason i want them is for bullshit SCIENCE with Reed, since Galactus isn't necessarily tied to them.
>>
>>82492267
Mostly Im in it for Ben vs Hulk, a proper Doom, Super Skrull, and Galactus
>>
>>82491886
You know Hugh Jackman Wolverine is pretty much the longest running consistent portrayal of a movie character of all time.

He's been Wolverine about every three years or so for the last almost 20 years. That's pretty much entirely unparalleled for any character. He's woven himself with the character for almost two decades as also the character's first major motion picture portrayal. It's going to be absolutely jarring as fuck when Wolverine is inevitably recast.

>>
>>82492217
I want them to get the FF back for the huge library of villains that would grant them. Doom would be a fucking amazing avengers villain, silver surfer and Galactus would really flesh out the galactic level stuff.
>>
>>82492311
>Doom

I'm not sure how could i forget about him.

Kinda silly that we want a certain group for their villains rather than them themselves.

Also, wasn't Ben generally weaker than Banner?
>>
>>82492328
Storm is cute
>>
>>82491916
Wolverine 3 is going to be his last movie.
>>
>>82492368
They had a long running rivalry and I think in early comics they were about even. But these days yeah Banner is stronger than Ben. But you got to admit, seeing a well made Thing fight the Hulk would be pretty sweet
>>
>>82492351
Mordo is probably going to become MCU's Doom.

SIlver Surfer and Galactus have already been replaced in the MCU cosmic.
As a matter of fact they can bring in quasar or a captain universe powered steve rogers later(when he inevitably leaves captain america they'll probably just do that instead of killing him off and have him out in space saving people instead of dead) to take the surfers place.
>>
>>82492368
>Also, wasn't Ben generally weaker than Banner?
They start off about even, but Hulk only gets stronger.
>>
>>82491886
I love the Russos, just hearing them talk you can tell they actually care and are cool people on top of that.
>>
>>82491916
Maybe because all you know about him are his shitty movies. Really though he isn't that good as an adaptation and I would love to see someone else.

Jackman was apparently going to at one point have a cameo in the first Raimi Spider-Man, but the Wolverine costume was unavailable, and I guess they didn't want him without it.
>>
>>82492571
There is also that deleted scene from Fantastic Four where Mr Fantastic morphs his head into Hugh Jackman.

The weird thing is that Fox used to be even worse penny pinchers when it comes to CGI and special effects, up until and including First Class (which looks like a late 90s movie) because they were literally re-using the same technology since the very first X-Men.
They've obviously opened the wallet a bit since DOFP. Beast still looks like a TV show reject though.

SquirrelGirl being a maybe mutant has been a question for as long as there's been a SquirrelGirl, this isn't a new thing started to legal jitzu the rights away from a movie studio.
She was first introduced in IronMan as a joke character in a joke story and never had an actual link to any X-Men books beyond GreatLakesAvengers/Defenders/Champions, and even that isn't an X-Men book.
It was a simplistic explaination of her superpowers to just write her off as a mutant but she wasn't created for use in those types of stories so that explaination never fit, thus the writing it back and forth over the years as mutant/not mutant over the entire span of her existence.
That's why that scene was written.

Although he unabashedly got OP during his original interpretation, the entire idea of him as a cosmic assassin or a lackey for abstract concepts has kept Maelstrom interesting for me.

That is to say I would fucking kill for a well done Maelstrom to show up. Admittedly, in a perfect world he would be the antagonist for Phyla. Because space lesbians. Because Maelstrom using the concept of anomaly as a weapon. Because dragon-riding space lesbian.

Fuck, Judge Anon back me up on this.

>>
>>82494147
My theory:
Kaecilius (with some elements of Modred) and Chthon

There are IMHO likely to be two villains, a sorcerer and a being possessing, ordering them.

Sorcerers:
Modred - High Octane Nightmare Fuel as Chthon JUSTS him.
Magus - Too cosmic for my liking but very strong possibility.
Kaluu - Could be, bit generic.
Nightmare - Dreams does not fit what DS origin movie should be about IMHO.
Kaecilius
Mordo (unlikely as he will likely remain a shifty hero in DS)

Entities:
Dormammu - Main personal adversary of Strange, visually tremendous, connections to Clea, introduces Dark Dimebsion, but does little to establish concepts and more suited to sequel.

Chthon - Main enemy of Vishanti, connects heavily to Scarlet Witch, and even Blade, Chaos Magic, the Darkhold, and famously schooled Strange when he tried to tackle him in his realm; so fits an origin story and connectivity perfectly without being clunky.

Shuma Gorath - Like Chthon well suited to introducing mystic concepts, and even more mind bending visually. Fought the Ancient One, too.

Set - Powerful and intimidating but a serpent might be too weird for the first movie.

Zom - A curveball choice.

We are getting a lot of hints from both sides, and with Infinity War probably getting rid of a lot of main Avengers, and with X-Men probably having both Fasbender and McAvoy out of the picture by then, they'll probably do this to ensure the survival of both universes.

That's what I've been thinking as well. The X-Men TV deal was the biggest clue that they might have decided to work together.

Fox is looking at Spider-Man thinking "We should do that," and Marvel is looking at Deadpool thinking "We need some of that over here."

The studios by now have to have figured out that audiences don't have the patience for any more reboots. These universes are here to stay, and with Dr. Strange opening up the Multiverse they might as well try to get them all together under one banner. Casuals think they're related anyway considering the Marvel logo still pops up before the movies.
