I mean we all know it's true. No Lantern is ever going to supercede Hal; he'll always be the golden boy plots revolve around. Kyle had to get Mary Sue powers to even be usable, and as much as I love Guy he and John are basically nonentities nowadays (Muh DCAU fans notwithstanding.) Then Simon was introduced and precisely nothing ever happened with him.
This happens every time a new Lantern is created. They get paraded around as hot shit for about a year until a new writer comes on or an event is planned, and then we have to bring Hal back to the forefront because nobody actually ever wants another Lantern but writers who want to "leave their mark on DC history."
You see this pic? Insert Jessica right in there with all the other literally whos, because making her a Lantern does that. She goes from a character with a unique gimmick to a Diversity Token that people can point to when they want there to be a girl character on a team or something besides Wonder Woman.
As Power Ring Jessica was unique. She's similar enough to a GL that she could even serve alongside them, but her ring having legitimate drawbacks and being an ever-present threat to her own mental health is really cool. But as an official Lantern the only thing she'll ever be doing is showing up whenever all the Lanterns need to be called to lose against some giant cosmic threat so that we can see that that the threat is serious for the real heroes.
She goes from a cool character to a crowdfiller like [Diamond with Tentacles] or [Red-Haired Worm]. She's on the same level as Ch'p- just a piece of trivia nobody cares about. At this point it's way more unique and special for a character to NOT be in the Corps.
