Has this series gotten any better? I dropped it about 5 issues in because it was awful.
I wanted Batman Beyond fighting crime while in education and juggling his vigilante and civilian life; instead we got Terminator wasteland future with batman in it.

I think this is the first issue after Jurgens got told to make it more like classic Beyond for Rebirth. Barbara got aged up to make her look like she does in Beyond, Bruce is the old man with the cane instead of the middle aged guy he was in Future's End and the stuff that isn't a flashback has nothing to do with the refugees or any indication it's a world trying to rebuild itself after Brother Eye.
Just going by this issue it could be happening in the regular Beyond future instead of his weird post apocalypse Beyond/Kamandi mash up

Technically, it's weird that all that still stood even after the past was changed. Yeah, Brother Eye still controlled part of the world, but it was clearly a different timeline from the one that sent Terry to the past.

I'm curious to see what happens to Tim though, after all this build up I doubt he's just going to be killed off but he can't keep being Batman if Terry comes back.

If Jason's origin can go back to stealing the Batmobile's tires there's no reason Tim's can't be retconned as well
So after all this time, it's touching on how Tim Drake disappeared. When Terry first travels into the past he says their is no record of Tim Drake in the future, which is one of the reasons he goes to the future after Terry does, when Bruce wanted to.
I thought the big mystery was he just lived a normal life as the bar guy. I didn't know there some bigger mystery what.
I can't wait for Terry to reclaim the mantle

Beyond! Barbara is still one of the best fates for the character to take. Same with Old Bruce from the TV series.
As much as I disliked the initial issues of the Batman Beyond 2015- comic storyline, I will admit it's gotten a lot better ever since the introduction of Neo-Metropolis and the Justice League Beyond (with Jon Kent, Clark's son, as Superman no less).
I wonder if Jurgens really was told to scale back the post-apocalyptic grim derp nature of his comic's setting. It certainly feels that way(which is good sense it was retarded to make Batman Beyond into the terminator in the first place.)

I think I have the timeline of this all figured out, but it's still confusing. Seems there are several ways to bring Terry back.
As far as I can tell:
Terminator Future//Elseworld Terry goes back in time.
(Future's End) Now+5 years into the future, Terry arrives and eventually dies, trying and failing to stop Brother Eye.
Tim Drake is sent into the future attempting to make things right.
(According to this issue)
Years before Tim Drake would arrive, and 30~ years into the future after Future's End, Terry is still training to become Batman's newest successor.
Some years later, probably between this issue 1# of Batman Beyond, Brother Eye launches a nuclear assault on several cities, and enslaves/converts a part of the populace into his robot army.
This universe's Terry "dies", but unlike his alternate timeline self from Future's End never goes back in time.
Issue 1-11# Batman Beyond happens, Terry assumed dead, Tim Drake stops Brother Eye, restores the Justice League Beyond, and eventually hunts down Rewire.
