I watched two seasons of arrow and one of Flash, just because everyone I know kept praising the shows so much, but they're fucking shit.

You forgot to mention how bad the pacing is. My God, I'm sure it's fine for people in a talkback thread to watch the Flash, and absentmindedly post through all the slow unnecessary shit to wait for the point where something actually cool happens when they can all go

But just trying to watch it on its own merits as a show, without that sort of context is a very underwhelming experience. Felicity scenes, scenes of relationship subplots that are basically just there to pad out the runtime, and like 5 minutes of actual "Flash" or "Arrow" action. It' just not my style. I like a slow burn sometimes, but there has to be something there besides fluff.

There are "slow burning" stories that build momentum and pay off in awesome climaxes, but these shows are not that at all. They're just slow as shit and filled with melodrama to fill in the 40 minute time slot.

Yeah, but they can be fun. Well not so much lately, but I had fun watching them. They're young adult dramas on the CW, that's been their bread and butter since Dawson's Creek, it's not like I'm expecting Shakespeare.
That said, I always found it funny that brief year or two when people thought the CW shows were going to tie in to the movies. They're not going to connect their hopefully multi-billion dollar franchises to some tv shows on the bottom-tier of network tv. You'd have to be a turbo retarded to think that was ever on the table.
