The first one was just awful terrible animation no funny jokes. Is the seconded one a British show? It sounds like it and the humor is a bit dry too. Regardless is Cartoon network trying to appeal to a younger crowd both these shows feel like there for preschool or early elementary kids. Nothing wrong with that just feels like it is all.

I really like the apple and onion one, it felt like it had more heart into it, and while the art style does look somewhat lazy, at least it tells a nice story.
Bottom's Butt however is perhaps the biggest example of what's wrong witht the cn staff at this point. These suburban twenty something hipsters think that by just adding neon colors, 80's aesthetics, and ironic dumb teen slang they're show's already set for success. When in reality they've got a long way to go in order to create a genuinely good show. I guess they just lack experience, and try really hard to create somwthing clever and unique without learning a lesson or two.
Overall, they seem like fun shows for kids to watch. Nothing our of the ordinary.
Bottoms Butte is just bad. It'd only work as a Bojack Horseman type of show, which is unlikely.
Apple and Onion has potential, but it needs major tightening up. Even if it gets that, it'll still just be a British Regular Show.
Now some of Nick's short cartoons (they seem to be pitched pilots/etc) look much better. The Tall Tales of Urchin scratches the same itch that Flapjack did, and Meat Pie charmed me with its grimy Middle Ages + main character being a scammer jerk like Eddy.
Of the other shorts, most were average. A couple were also pretty good (the Mexican luchadore/capture the flag one and the love potion werewolf thing) but a couple were just awful. The one with two brothers? in a white room bunk bed was bad, and the 'winner'/one that was(?) picked up- Porta Party?- is absolute trash.

Real talk- can female characters ever do two person comedy competently?
Only example I can think of is Two Broke Girls, which isn't /co/ and isn't a very good show anyways, but at least the banter has some effort put into it, and there are occasionally funny bits without needing the canned laughter.
Like, I don't want this to be true but Those Two Guys(tm) type of comedy only seems to work with men. Single person seems to be limited and after 3 unless the trio is very solidly together (EEnE, 3 Stooges) you might as well expand it to a 4-7 person cast.

That worm guy was close to being a complete Benson. The overall premise sounded stupid as fuck but I will admit that the Alpaca has some great porn potential.
Apple and Onion felt a lot more genuine. The duo are childish and naive types who don't get a clue, which I often end up hating but it wasn't completely annoying. It was nothing exceptional or original but I'd totally sit through a few episodes of it. Admittedly the two are a bit endearing. Somewhat humorous. The jail bit with Beef Jerky got a smile out of me.

There have been strong women duos as far back as I Love Lucy. Plus there's Broad City, Tina Fey & Amy Poehler, Garfunkel and Oates, Laverne & Shirley. You said it, the statistics are much more skewed in men's favor, but they exist and they're good at it. Whether or not you think so is objective, so you can't say that women seem to be less competent at banter because of your own preference.
Plus this isn't even taking into account man+woman duos that show women can be just as funny as the men.

Apple and Onion was definitely the better written of the two, but it does so many things that piss me off design wise. Food characters whose names are just food fucking kills me. Also I have a feeling that french fry thing is gonna be heavily played in the series and we have enough forced romance drama in every other CN show.
Bottom's Butte feels like Regular Show if the premise was way more mundane but the characters were way more manic. Like I wouldn't imagine it would have any of Regular Show's supernatural elements but the MC is significantly nuttier than Mordecai. I like the character designs better, but once again that's just because it feels like Regular Show and I like Regular Show.
Basically I'm not really excited for either of them. Apple and Onion is kinda funny, but I've seen everything it's got going on before. Bottom's Butte pretty much only has Alpaca ass to sell me on.
I wouldn't be surprised if you told me the guys who wrote these shows had been working under other CN writers before they got their own shot because it just feels exactly like everything else on the network. They desperately need a breath of fresh air over there.

But the people who sent the suit didn't check the intelligence level of the lifeforms on Earth, so a T-Rex ends up gaining the most sophisticated piece of weaponry in the universe. First thing it does is accidentally launch a nuclear war-head. Then it goes off into space, having space shenanigans as it is forced to solve diplomatic issues on alien worlds. The suit has a robot AI that's the straightman to the T-Rex's "it's a fucking t-rex"

I legitimately cannot remember or recall any extended period of time in world history when cartoons was in such an overall shitty, bad place as they are right now.
I'd love to be proven wrong, to find a sliver of hope. For someone to say, "No no, it's been much worse. It will get better again!". I'm thinking back to Extreme Dinosaurs, Kidd Video, Fish Detective, Captain Simian and the Space Monkeys. Even fucking Cowboys from Moo Mesa and the Coneheads cartoon. Never ever before has there been such a complete and utter lack of originality and total creative bankruptcy in the medium.

At the very least 12 Forever had a solid concept/world to play off of.
That's the biggest problem with these two new pilots: they have nothing to keep you around with.
They're just generic sitcom plots with animals/food slapped over them.
Regular Show kinda is like that, but then they always have episodes explode into huge fantastical things.
These pilots don't make use of their world/design enough to be worthwhile and seem to not have any story hook either.
You need at least one of those to have a compelling cartoon.
Bottoms Butte looks awful, I hate it

Bottoms Butte was cancer, the joke is a girl has brain damage and thinks things look are good. The world is ugly and full of trash, which I guess is the joke but its a bad one.
I can't sit through the first one. I'll give my stray thoughts on it, though. It has a retarded premise, and like pretty much everyone has said, it's just another Regular Show with more juvenile characters. Just because it's by an RS staffer is not an excuse. The colors are nauseating and I can't see myself liking the characters. From what I watched, 5/10, but I predict it would be a 4 if I had watched the whole thing.
