The comic is Kill Six Billion Demons. The brown-skinned girl is the current antagonist and is actually an old crone who uses de-aging fruit to stay young and immortal forever.
This is after the college-aged protagonist made the exceptionally unwise decision to help herself to said fruit before she knew what it did.

Slightly bigger girl, Mottom, is one of the seven evil tyrants ruling the multiverse that Allison is going to have to kill. She's having fun messing around with Allison while probably acting like a mix of Yoda and Baba Yaga.
Allison is undergoing a transformation because this sort of narrative about growing up and becoming an adult or whatever is not complete without some requisite corruption or transformation of some kind. See also: Alice in Wonderland, Pan's Labyrinth, Labyrinth (the one with David Bowie), Serial Experiments Lain, etc.
Last book Allison temporarily got horns because she drank that blue devil liquor, I wouldn't be very surprised if undergoing weird transformations becomes a once-per-book thing for her.

Each of the Seven have one of the syllables of this seven-part name, representing their incomplete grasp of God, as gained through their lives and experience. According to one translation, they are The Glory, The Tower, The Flame, The Diamond, The Blade, The Mind, and The Beast. Mottom bears the syllable of Glory.
Considering how the bit you quoted goes though, Allison might end up holding all the names. After all, this book is called Wielder of Names.

I don't think there's anything passive about the keys or even that key. Unless Zoss programmed something like that in their after the fact which I doubt.
