>These are the only comic books I've ever bought

Based on this, are there any comics you could recommend to me?
>>
Squirrel Girl, Ms.Marvel, Bitch Planet, Lumberjanes
>>
Longshot Saves the Marvel Universe
>>

Do you like Gwenpool for the art or the story? If it's the art, look for the various Power Pack minis that Gurihiru did years ago.

Why are you reading Gwenpool and Spider-Gwen exactly? You like blonde teenagers? You thought she was quirky and cute? Just need some feedback to figure out what you are after.

>Bitch Planet
Anon, don't be an asshole.

I reccomend Usagi Yojimbo to everybody.

It hits a great sweet spot between cute, funny and violent as fuck.

Only comic book i ever bought was GL secret origins
so buy that
>>
Spider-gwen #3
>>
>>82428852
no
>>
>>82428852
Ms Marvel
Brian Reed's Ms Marvel
Harley Quinn and Power Girl
Gotham City Sirens
Empowered

That last one I recommend before any of the others, Empowered is honestly tye best cape comic getting printed today.

Anything written by Kate Leth

Seconding Ms. Marvel. And read the previous runs which are under the name "Captain Marvel". Not the DC one.
>>
Angela Queen of Hel
Spiderwoman
Hellcat
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur
>>
>>82428852
If you liked Gwenpool then check out Longshot Saves the Marvel Universe. It's a nice 4 issue mini by the same writer as Gwenpool and is really good.

Also Ms. Marvel. Start with the 2014 volume (Ms. Marvel 1-19) before moving onto the current All-new All-Different volume.
>>
OP why don't you just buy the next issue of Spider-Gwen
>>
>>82429093
The DC one is a good read too though. He should check out Power of Shazam for sure.
>>
>>82429138
>Angela Queen of Hel
Anon, don't be an asshole. Angela: Queen of Hel is one of the worst books Marvel has put out in years... maybe ever for that matter. It's absolute garbage. Spider-woman and Hellcat are also pretty meh. Spider-gwen ends up having a crossover with Silk and Spider-woman later on called Spider-women though, so maybe check out Silk and Spider-woman just so you don't get blind sided by that crossover when it ends up happening. Silk at the very least is pretty good.

I do recommend Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur though, so check those out.

So all told, I'd recommend:
>Longshot Saves the Marvel Universe
>Ms. Marvel (2014 volume, and 2015 volume)
>Silk (also has two different volumes like Ms. Marvel and Spider-gwen, thank Secret Wars for that clusterfuck)
>Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur
And maybe Spider-woman, though I personally am not a big fan of it.
>>
>>82428998
I like AU interpretations of characters. That's why stuff like Homestuck and Adventure Time draw me in.
>>
I don't understand how the first comic you decided to buy is Spider-Gwen.
>>
>>82428998
>>82429247
Also I enjoy stories where that heavily use timelines where the other timeline is "similar but different" if that makes sense

Check out Exiles then. It's really good at the beginning, and they jump around different universes and interact with different versions of people, etc.

Welcome to Showside
Power Up
Hark A Vagrant

>>82429267
See above. The concept of an alternate universe where Gwen live and Peter died and doing this with long established characters tickle my pleasure centers.

Zodiac Starforce

So are you gonna keep reading Spider-Gwen? Have you finished the first arc?

Oh, then maybe check out the Secret Wars event and its tie-ins, since that was literally AUs: The Event. Pic related.

My personal favorite Secret Wars minis were:
>Infinity Gauntlet
>Civil War
>Master of Kung-fu
>Giant Size Little Marvel: AvX
>Weirdworld
>E is for Extinction
>Inferno
>Captain Britain & the Mighty Defenders
>Ghost Racers
Also you might want to read at least the first two issues of the main event mini, since those give context for Battleworld, which is where all of this stuff takes place.
>>
>>82429309
>>82429348
Okay, since you've said more after I recommended Exiles, it is exactly what you are looking for.
>>
>>82429373
Yeah. It's ok so far but it's not really doing much for me. How much does it improve as it goes along?
>>
>>82429311
This, but fucking stop as soon as you see Proteus. Please trust me. If you see Proteus you've gone too far.
>>

>>
>>82429420
>How much does it improve as it goes along?
If you're not liking it now then your opinion is unlikely to improve. It spends most of its run teetering between "decent" and "wasted potential." It's not bad, it just doesn't live up to what it could be.

Nah matey. Anon just wants some recs of good alt-universe comics. Seems you're just triggered.
>>
>>82429348
But you presumably haven't read the original stories that this subverts.

There's a bunch of good alternative Spider-Man continuities though. Ultimate Spider-Man and Spider-Man loves Mary-Jane are both good.
>>
>>82429548
Yeah, most of my knowledge is based off of movies and some comics. I read a good number of Ultimate spider man comics when I was in middle school.
>>
>>82429503
Giant Size Little Marvel: AvX, MODOK Assassin, Mrs. Deadpool & the Howling Commandos, and Hank Johnson: Agent of HYDRA. All of which are pretty good.

Also deadpool's Secret Secret War, but that one is kinda shitty and is pretty dependent on you having read the original Secret Wars from the 80s since it's basically "what if Deadpool was in the original 80s Secret Wars, hijinks ensue as a result."

Hitman by Garth Ennis. It has nothing to do with what you read, but I recommend it to everybody.

Worth noting to read the original Spider-man 2099 from the 90s. The current one is about Spider-man 2099 being stuck in the present so, while still good, it probably won't scratch that same AU itch that the original would.

And if you like Spider-man 2099, Doom 2099 and Punisher 2099 are both also great. The rest of the 2099 comics are kinda mediocre unfortunately, but Spider-man, Punisher and Doom are all definitely worth reading.

Punisher 2099 gets a bit of a bad rap sometimes because people see out of context panels and don't realise that it's a parody of EXTREME comics. With that in mind, it's 10/10.
>>
>>82428852
So you are one of those cute!fags, I will recommend power pack and silk.

>>82429311
man all those issues wasted in Proteus.
>>
>>82429877
I haven't checked out Punisher 2099. I keep meaning to, but I want to find back issues someday.

Just stay the fuck away from Ravage 2099. I thought I got a good deal finding the entire run in quarter bins. It was there for a reason.

I got X-Men 2099 as it came out, avoided the other stuff. Too bad it all ended badly with X-Nation 2099 and the whole 2099 A.D. shit

>>82430007
When did that start? I haven't read Exiles since it came out, so I'm foggy about that part. The original stuff I can re-read forever though.
>>
>>82429877
Yeah, I meant the original 90's series. Didn't realize there was one happening right now.
>>
>>82430312
>Didn't realize there was one happening right now.
Yeah, it's by the original writer too, so if you were a fan of the original then it's worth checking out. Not quite as good because the artist is kinda shitty, and the whole "stuck in the present" thing is a tired plot at this point, but still good.
>>
>>82430485
It's a Poser artist, so everything feels stiff. No fluidity like you expect from comics.
>>
>>82430051
It began as a house of M tie-in so i guess around 2004-5 ?
>>
>>82430643
That explains it. I was out of comics around then. I picked up stuff I missed, but didn't get around to reading it all. Guess I should dig it out someday.
>>
>>82428852
So I'm not OP, but given the discussion, I thought it might be appropriate to ask here. How is spiderverse? I read the first five and thought they were decent, but from what I've heard it's not very good overall. Is this true? If so, why?
>>
>>82428852
John Byrne She-Hulk. It's cute, self-referential, and very funny.
>>
>>82431059
I didn't want to go that far back (80's) with my recommendations, but yeah. John Byrne was great back then. All his Marvel stuff was solid. 90's John Byrne started skimping on the drawing, and the writing was a mess as he was trying to insert shit into history.
>>
>>82431008
>Is this true?
Yes, a few moments and some decent tie-ins aside, Spider-verse sucks.
>If so, why?
Because "let's get all of the spiders of the multiverse together for a big team-up" is a great idea, but the way Slott went about doing it was shitty and instead of being "oh boy, I can't wait to see my favorite AU spider-man" it became "oh god, I hope I don't see my favorite AU spider-man, because that means they'll probably just get eaten by these shitty vampire assholes."
>>
There was a long running series about Peter Parker's daughter May, set in a potential future you might like: http://marvel.com/comics/series/417/spider-girl_1998_-_2006

Anyhow, avoid anything by Kate Leth. She is the worst writer to ever stumble into comics.
>>
>>82432107
>She is the worst writer to ever stumble into comics.
Nah, she's bad, but she's not Chuck Austen or Marguerite Bennett-tier.
>>
>>82432695
Reminder that Chuck Austen is now working on Steven Universe
>>
>>82432815
Oh good, thanks for giving me a reason to never watch Steven Universe.
>>
>>82429877
I loved Ghost Rider 2099.
