I liked it, the book effortlessly weaved together J'onn's identities over the years. From Private Dick, to Superhero, to Guy Who Loves Chocos, Guy Who Sits Behind a Computer, to Black Guy then throwing it over everyone's heads and altering his origin to new extremes.

Basically, he's a weapon sent down to earth, he used to be a scientist on Mars until Ma'alefa'ak used an ancient Martian Blood Ritual to turn him into what he is now.

I mean in terms of stories at least it's not another "WE WUZ GREEN MARTIANS AND SHIET" vs a bunch White Martians (Like holy shit, literally any Martian Manhunter story that focuses on him always has fucking White Martians)
