Oh crap. I actually thought i watched this when i was like 5 years old and i was pretty sure it was a dream. It makes sense that it would confuse me seeing how surreal and unnerving it is just by watching snippets of it right now.

the future is a horrible place.
This is one that I knew wasn't for kids but, seeing the cover in the video rental store as a kid mesmerized me. It was a cartoon with a lady not wearing a shirt and little me thought that was scandalous. Now looking back, I really really wish I'd watched this when I was about 12 (as in, before The Matrix came out) because it would have been a much better introduction for me to some of the the themes and the cyberpunk genre. Like how I'm grateful for watching Paprika before Inception came out. My parents probably would have let me get Ghost in the Shell too, if for nothing else than to stop me from renting Watership Down for the hundredth time.
