Seriously, the bomb was something I could understand. Superman can't do a full xray vision sweep of every room he walks into. But to hear Lois in trouble TWICE in the movie, and not be able to find Martha when she's in trouble? It's such a clear asspull to force Superman to fight Batman, even though Batman intended to fight Supes anyways!
They only did it this way to prevent Batman from being the Aggressor in the conflict, even though he spends months training and preparing for the inevitable confrontation.

So, here's me spitballing a skeleton of an idea, feel free to tear it apart or disregard it. I am not a professional:
The first and most important thing to change in BvS is the desert scene. Everyone thinking that Superman killed a bunch of people with GUNS is fucking stupid. What should have happened instead is that Doomsday was created earlier in the film. A kryptonian being with powers matching superman's has ravaged several combat zones (where there are fewer potential witnesses) around the world, and Superman is being blamed. This, coupled with the Metropolis incident, further motivates Batman to seek a weapon he can use to stop Superman, and that portion of the movie stays much the same.
Instead of being blackmailed into fighting Batman, Superman is instead ambushed by him as Clark Kent, after Bruce does some motherfucking detective work and discovers that a disproportionate number of Superman interventions involve Lois Lane. They have their fight, which is cut short when Luthor finally loses control of Doomsday and it goes on a rampage in metropolis.
Like I said, I'm no professional, and this has problems, but hey, it's still a cut above everyone believing Superman SHOT A BUNCH OF DUDES WITH BULLETS, if you ask me.

I'm desperate to attack people who misunderstand it, or refuse to understand it, even when it isn't very hard to understand. I think it's a shame that one of the more interesting cape movies of our time is being near-universally panned simply because it's not what people expected, or because people were too incapable of picking up plot points that were blatantly delivered to us in dialogue.

Pretty good, just read Rogues Revenge (Final Crisis tie in) last night and loved the shit out of it. Although I think Final Crisis was by far the worst event I've ever read.

No shit, Sherlock. And yet TWS alone made more than MoS with a smaller budget. Even fucking AoU made more than BvS with a similar stated budget (though BvS is still in theaters). The "average" box office is brought down because of more numerous smaller budgeted movies making, predictably, less in the box office.
Part of the issue is also that a fucking Batman and Superman Movie didn't exactly break the bank. It did well, no two ways about it. But it's like ASM2: it did well, but ideally, it should've done much, much better. We live in a world where Deadpool has had a movie that made more than the most recent solo Superman movie on a fourth of the budget. That's insane. That speaks to something about how well the brand is doing, and you can't just wave it aside as "well, people just don't really care about Superman and Batman anymore." These movies, in their mediocrity, are not working in the same way Marvel and the others' mediocrity has been working, either as audience or critic pleasers. Doesn't mean people can't like them, nor is box office and critical response the be all, end all of movie quality. But to say the average DCEU money is higher per film than MCU? That's dumb fucking shit and in no way what will affect the franchises going forward. You think specific, weasel phrasing like that matters to execs? They care about the profit on each movie, not some meaningless average between two very different sample sizes.
You're right about one thing: they're not going to reboot. Things are already too much in motion to stop. And there's really no reason too. The two movies haven't bombed or flopped, they just did well enough. Just, well enough.
