>The BBC is making Watership Down as a four-part animated mini-series, and Netflix will be the exclusive distributor of the series outside of the UK. The 4-hour CG-animated series will premiere on BBC One in the UK next year.

...Alright, which one of you bastards had the monkey's paw?

Gotta cash in on that female bunny craze, huh?

In other news, they will also be remaking Animal Farm without the whole depressing communism backdrop and nobody dies.

won't see it for it is already shieet

I'm not happy about the CGI announcement. But maybe they'll do something interesting with it.

That said, I understand them toning down the violence. It's not like the old film ceases to exist because this new one is coming, and it's much too scary for kids as it is.

Watership Down is a great story. I'll reserve judgement for the final product. The real important stuff to me is the origin myth, the prophetic vision, and the ghost burrow. I think those things should remain intact. If they want to tone down the rabbit violence and remove the blood from the traps, I think that's very reasonable. Those scenes scare a lot of kids.

oh it will cease to exist because people rarely look up old movies...ask 10 people off the street if they have seen a Titanic movie that wasn't the 1997 Cameron film.

Why remake something that doesn't need remaking?

If they want a kid-friendly bunny movie why don't they just make up an original premise? Why go back and reimagine something that already has a well-done adaptation?

No, the movie isn't suitable for kids. But it's fine that way. I can't imagine this being anything except worse than the original film. It will inevitably fuck up at least several things because somebody decided they had a "better idea."

>>82406472

>Why remake something that doesn't need remaking?
The original animated adaptation cut out a LOT of the book.
>>
>>82405649
Hey at least they could still get John Hurt back to voice Hazel again.
>>
>>82406485
I think they want to target a different audience than the other movie does.

It's not a remake, though. It's the book's second adaptation. I think that's important to understand.

Look at that gay new jungle book movie

And do you think this won't?

I hope they make a 2D El-Ahrairah story

Plus there was that Canadian made TV series

why do people today don't want to see violence in movies anymore.
death and pain are both realities of life.
i feel sorry about these people who just wants to keep their eyes closed and only thinks that the world revolves around them.

honestly, the CGI part is the only thing worrying me here. I'm fine with everything else.

Just the problem here is that the BBC basically puts ALL their budget into one show a year, and seeing as they already clearly spent it all on The Night Manager this year, this is all but guaranteed to look like ass.

>‘Yes, that’s what I’ve come for,’ replied the other. ‘You know me, don’t you?’
>‘Yes, of course,’ said Hazel, hoping he would be able to remember his name in a moment. Then he saw that in the darkness of the burrow, the stranger’s ears were shining with a faint, silver light. ‘Yes, my lord,’ he said. ‘Yes, I know you.’
>‘You’ve been feeling tired,’ said the stranger, ‘but I can do something about that. I’ve come to ask whether you’d care to join my Owsla. We shall be glad to have you and you’ll enjoy it. If you’re ready, we might go along now.’

He spent the last years of his life completing an anti-commie propaganda and wrote a list of suspected commies for the British government. His experiences in Spain had long since disavowed him of any support he may once of had for communism and his public position after the commie's actions in Spain was that of a "Tory-anarchist."

Sorry guys, I went and watched this for the first time last night, and I have this poor luck where if I start playing a game or watch a movie, they announce a new version of it within a week afterwards.

How the hell are they going to make a story about a bunch of bucks running across the country and then settling down and fighting a war against some other bucks in order to steal their does be female prominent, hell if they're added to the first half then the entire conflict of the second is lost and if Hyzenthlay is more successful in her attempts to leave General Woundwort & co. without BigWig then the conflict of the 2nd half is also lost?

Didn't the original have a strong female presence? I recall the climax working out due to the corporation of male and female rabbits.

...
What the fuck does feminism have to do with nature and trying to not fucking die? Isn't Watership Down pretty much how the world is seen from a bunny/rabbit's pov? Like a damn war zone?
>>
>>82412348
It have nothing to do with it but they're gonna do it anyway because strong independant women need that, it's obvious
>>
I love how the argument 'the original isn't suitable for the children' is thrown around in defence of this remake going underway. Like the original was made with kids in mind in the first place. Might as well make a kid-friendly version of Plague Dogs while they're at it.
>>
>>82409224
What's the last decent, non-preschool thing from here anyway? All I can think of is Gumball and The Pirates in an Adventure with Scientists.
>>
>>82412429
Well let's be thankful it's just the novel and not the movie. Besides if it were planned to be a remake of the movie, I don't think 3rd wave femicunts would like seeing the females get torn to bloody pieces.

Why didn't they just fuck like rabbits when they got to Watership Down rather than search for mates then?
>>
>Changing story elements

This upsets me more than the CGI senpai
>>
>>82413302
They will probably make it a fight over territory and resources instead of the "problematic" fighting for mates.
>>
>>82413177
What was the series like, anyway? Was it at least Farthing Wood tier?
