Unless Morrison confirms it I'd assume that Terry isn't Bruce's son in pre-flashpoint DCAU.

Where was that implied? I got the impression that Inc. had collapsed just like it did in main continuity years before Damian or Terry became Batman in that story.

The TV show universe (Earth-12) obviously isn't the same as the main DCU universe (Earth-0) anyway pre- nor post-Flashpoint. No reason to assume minor details like that would carry over really unless they're explicitly stated.

I don't like futuristic Batman having literal superpowers, via the Suit. It defeats the appeal of Batman in the first place: the fact that he was just a normal man, fighting against crime. I mean, you might as well as give this new Batman real superpowers through human engineering, cybernetic limbs, and other transhuman elements because it's the future.
>>
>>82386027
But Batman always has superpowers via technology. What do you think the grappling hook is?
>>
>>82385625
I agree. People who have a problem with Epilogue completely miss the point of it.

Terry WAS going to be a manufactured Batman. That WAS the plan. But that plan failed, leaving Terry to live a normal, not-destined-to-be-batman life.

Everything that happens after that is the result of his, and Bruce's, own choices. Terry's father was killed, and he happened upon the batsuit, entirely by chance. But then he chose to put it on. Bruce chose to train him. They both chose to bring Batman back to Gotham. It had nothing to do with Waller or CADMUS, and Terry's genetics no longer played a part other than as a remnant of an old conspiracy.

If anything, Epilogue reinforces Terry's character rather than undermining it.
>>
>>82386027
>batman
>normal man
Bruce has mastered, like, 100 different fighting styles, Terry only knows karate and street style.
Plus all his tech powers are like Bruce's, minus the camouflage one

>>82386027
Beyond escalates Batman the same rate it does the criminals. Sure he's got a high tech suit now, but the average thug could be genespliced or on superdrugs or have robot arms. The average supervillain shoots nuke blasts or controls minds with sound.

How else is Batman supposed to go toe to toe with the criminal element in a cyberpunk dystopia?
>>
>>82386316
Isn't that why they broke up?
>>
>>82386027
The Beyond suit is just the logical evolution of present day Bruce's endless Arsenal of gadgets and protective Batsuits.

>>

The BW retcon was the dumbest thing ever. It kind of killed the idea that this was a post-80s-cyberpunk kind of world where Japan and the US had essentially merged economically and culturally.
>>
>>82386937
What you describe is classic cyberpunk. Was Batman Beyond ever supposed to have been classic Cyberpunk? I don't remember any Japanese elements in Gotham.

>>
>>82384115
People don't get that the point of this was that Terry was furious about this but he had no reason to. Bruce being his dad literally did not matter in the scheme of things because he was much more his actual father's son.
>>
>>82387019
>>82386997

>Terry was furious about this but he had no reason to

>>

i really hate when casuals say stuff like this, bruce hasnt been a "normal guy" since 1940
>>
He was half-Schway.

>>82387104
Well, bionics are somewhat common, people use credits instead of cash, there are a couple of corporations that are starting to BECOME megacorps, and the show has a lot of hacking and corporate espionage. It might not have been pure cyberpunk, but it had the trappings of that genre.
>>
>>82387225
something that prevents a pair of irishfolk from naturally producing bruce wayne's dominant genes out of thin air
>>
>>82387350
Sorry, I didn't mean it that way. It has a ton of cyberpunk, there's no question about that. I mean the merging of Japan and America. That's classic 80's cyberpunk, but I didn't think that was in BB's version of it.
>>
>>82387391
Ooooooh, OK. Should have read the whole reply chain. No, I don't think so. The text kind of hints towards that, but outside of that it was non-existent.
The closest think to a merger of America and an Asian country in the show is how Terry tried to get into Dana Tan's pants on his off-hours.
>>
>>82384141
>why does he look asian though

Because the cyberpunk future is always Asian-influenced. A product of the ascendant Japan of the 1980s.

>>
>>82387519
I dunno, I feel like it ran through the series, just that it was very low-key. Things like Gotham suddenly having a large Asian population, the general aesthete... Maybe I'm biased by that shot in the opening, but it always felt like it was meant to be that the cultural integration was so complete that it just didn't pop up overtly.
>>
>>82388692
I had a friend who used it before the reboot aired. I think if you had nerdy parents then there was a chance of it sneaking in from the 80s show.

How does Terry's suit work? I mean, the show states it's really just a very advanced exoskeleton, but it looks, acts, and folds like civilian clothing. Yet, it also perfectly accommodates both Bruce's and Terry's features despite both of them having different body sizes, height, and weight?

The part that mostly confuses me is how it gives its wearer superhuman strength, agility, endurance, and reflexes. How? There's a reason why powered armor is bulky, it's suppose to be artificial muscle that justifies how it augments the wearer's physical abilities, such as Section 8 suits.

Or is it like a parasitic symbiote-inspired suit, like Crysis suits' nanomuscle fibers, which explains how it enhances its wearer? But even then, the nanomuscles are clearly visible and doesn't act like cloth or is tightfitted like Terry's.
>>
>>82392420
Nanomachines, son.
>>
>>82384141
you know a lot of blue-eyed asians with long nosebridges?
anyway, it's because there was this practice in old comic books to give everyone perfectly shiny jet-black hair. back in the day that actually wasnt that unrealistic because a lot of men wore really dark-tinted heavily-slicked hair that ended up looking darker than it naturally was just from the 'wet'ness alone, let alone further darkening. even though caucasians cant naturally grow properly jet black hair, it was a lot simpler to ink than trying to mix for brown, and straight is the easiest hair to draw. then a little shine makes it show up better against black, so.. bob's your uncle, asian hair

They don't follow the rules of beyond which are pretty clear in all honesty. Have terry and bruce as batman and use terry's rouge gallery with the occasional nod to bruces. Don't try to make a beyond version of the old villains and if you do then they should die at the end or wish they were dead and not come back.

Which isn't inherently bad considering that the Green Lantern show was pretty based.
