The cervix doesn't have much sensibility by itself but to get there you need to stick an object that spreads the vagina open all the way to the end so you can visualize the cervix and take a sample of the loose cells without letting the brush touch anything besides the cervix. It can hurt if the patient is too tense and if the doctor is not careful/considerate.
Website layout really pisses me off. Having to scroll to the bottom of a page I've not read yet to hit the link to make sure it's the least-recent page I haven't read. Or on non-frontpage comics, still halfway down (which is a different height every page). If the comic itself weren't so good I wouldn't bother.
I like it, there a sort of realness to the slow paced arcs.

they also use Iodine to sterilise the area and micro-tears to occur through out the skin of the area so that can also sting quite a bit.
