Who is a better father: Batman or Superman ...

A good father would never allow his child to dress in tights and go up against armed thugs and psychopathic serial killers.

Batman.
>>
>>82376753
Well, Batman did let his minor ward get beat to death with a crowbar...
Sups.
>>
Am I allowed to ignore all the times DC has made Superman a shitty parent or family member for some forced reason?
>>
>>82376753
Superman had one Psuedo Son in Conner and despite how much Conner didn't like to be associated with Clark, Clark did right by Connor. He now has Jon and he seems to be doing right by Jon.

Batman had Dick and immediately smacked and fired him for doing the right thing
Then he had Jason who he tried to force into Dick's shoes as the obedient sidekick but Jason ended up quitting and dying shortly after.
Dick then tried to help Bruce, who proceeded to whoop on him for trying.
Then Tim came in to try to bring Dick back in only to have both Dick and Alfred push him into being Robin and Tim was able to bring Bruce back from the precarious edge he was hanging over.
Tim did well until Jason showed back up and fucked him up, then Bruce made it his job to obsess over Jason instead of focusing on keeping his relationship with his son alive.

tl;dr
Bruce is a more "experienced" father.
Clark is a better father.
>>
>>82376753
Superman. Superman Is A Better Dad Than Batman
Batman heavily neglected Damian. Mainly, I blame the writers for badly handling the relationship.
>>
>>82376910
I do not think he is a perfect father ,but i think he had molded Tim , Dick and Damian into good people.
>>
>>82376965
But you gotta concede that there's a difference between "Molding" and "Parenting".
Literally all the robins and batgirls became better characters after their time with Bruce but at the expense of their relationship with him.

Superman.
like Superman as a Dad... because, and I may be projecting here... Superman, to me, was (and is) the perfect Dad. Seeing him actually playing that role, with a son he adores, almost brings a tear to my eye. It's strange when you can actually be happy for a fictional character... but, (as I say far too often) here we are. He's earned his happiness... and I am glad we have been given this opportunity to experience it.

Abandoning Gotham because you have a new group of friend is not the right thing.
Also no, he actually cared about Jason and tried to be a father to him. Fuck you and all your shitty retcons.

I don't think Superman has had two sons killed on the job

Superman.
>>
Well, Batman constantly has children put into dangerous situations which has gotten them killed so... not Batman?
>>
Superman is the best.
Batman is bad.
Well with all his death and now Batman the truth is that not much has been shared with Damian and treatment a distant I think Bruce does not care much for him.Bruce should spend more time with his son and less time with his "UN of Batmen".
>>

Tim is not a kid and shouldn't be treated as such

The bit that gets me is Tim does the right thing in the end but that's not proof enough for the guy who does that on a nightly, despite how fucking much Tim had to go through just to get Bruce back skirting the edge of justice like bruce does every night.

I don't actually accept that, you can't accept one instance of being writer decision and other instances of being the character's decision. You have to accept the characters only one way and that way makes you think the characters are all emotional wrecks with mood swings, like they should be.
>>
>>82377269
I'll be honest I never really cared about Red Robin so I don't know exactly what happened
>>
>>82377244
He is 10.He's only a kid, and Bruce should understand that.why is no one holding Alfred accountable? Bruce never acknowledged that he didn't remember being Batman. Alfred was the one who said Bruce's mind was re-wired and Wonder Woman confirmed Bruce was not lying when he said he did not recall working with the league. I am of the mind that Alfred is an unreliable narrator and lied to keep Bruce from the cowl. I mean the day dream in Zero Year of Bruce Marrying Julie was dreamt by Alfred.
>>
Also, Alfred has a lot of explaining to do for Damian and Bruce ...I think Snyder and co are trying to hard to push duke too fast , and I don't like how Alfred now.
>>
>>82377317
Definitely I blame Alfred and by extension Snyder I get that in Snyder's run Duke has essentially been integral to the Snyder Era of Batman. Still Damian is Bruce's son and it felt like a missed opportunity to not have Damian confront Alfred about the robins about this new Batman, as well the emotional duress of having a father whom did not recognize him and is a shell of himself I just feel I would have enjoyed seeing Damian's perspective of the status quo from the onset.
>>
>>82377425
I feel the same way. Snyder is one of my favorite writers of all time, but the fact that he doesn't write Damian into any of his stories really really bothers me. Damian is Bruce's son and the eventual heir to the cowl, but Snyder makes Duke a more important character. There should at least be a scene where Bruce confronts Alfred about everything. Maybe we'll get that scene Batman 52
>>
>>82376753
Superman.
>>82377425
I hope that someone at DC tells Snyder that he needs to include Damian in some up coming stories.
Snyder not wanting to write Damian because his son is the same age is just plain dumb. Just because he has a son the same age doesn't mean that he can't creatively write Damian. He has wrote a bunch of characters that are close to Damian's age. I love Snyder's work, but this really annoys me.
>>
>only dads it up with other nigh invulnerable flying bricks, because hey if they get dropped on their heads no big deal!
>the moment he has an actual squishy frail human to tend to he either treats them like shit or ends up having Kalibak kidnap them

Clark a shit.
>>
>>82377341
That's fine. RR's initial storyline of Tim, after Bruce's death and the battle for the cowl. Dick replaced him with Damian and Tim, after the death of alot of people close to him, didn't take it too well because it had become the only important constant in his life. He saw something that made him believe that Bruce was alive. Tim left the family behind and took up Jason's RR mantle, feeling the meaning to it fit him at that moment in time.

He goes on a crusade around the world trying to prove that Bruce was alive, Garnering the attention of Ra's Al Ghul at his efforts and Tim allies with him. They fight off an opposite Assassin faction in return for Ra's helping him prove Bruce is alive. Tim ends up destroying Ra's database crippling his assassins for a time to which Ra's tries to attack all of his family in gotham. Tim manages to outsmart Ra's and with the help of many of his friends protects the people that were important to Bruce. Ra's acknowledges Tim's ability, calling him Detective, before kicking him out a window.

Tim is able to prove Bruce is alive and that's how we get Bruce back to the present.
>>
>>82377454
agree, I'd like to see Tom King write Batman -Bruce is a bad father, in both a real world and super hero world sense. He wasn't a good father to Dick or Jason either. I don't mention Tim because his father was alive for most of his time as Robin. And then I wouldn't say he started to look at Bruce as a father until later.
>>
Of course he's a bad father but to be fair, Jason is a bad son.
>>
>>82377499
To be fair Jack was in a Coma for alot of it and Tim was his ward, after the Coma his dad was actually a better dad in comparison to Bruce, despite how controlling he seemed. After Jack's Death he still couldn't really connect to Tim as his son despite adopting him.

Batman as a father:

Pros-

- Literally went to hell and back to save Damian, while wearing a parasitic death suit.Batman was literally fighting an actual god on Apokolips while having his lifeforce drained from him Damian's presence was the only reason Batman didn't boil NoBody's head.

He even said later he would've preferred to kill NoBody himself, had he known Damian was going to kill him anyway.

>Abandoning Gotham because you have a new group of friend is not the good thing.

Not what has happened. First Gotham was not abandoned, second the Teen Titans had grown up with several responsibilities that Dick could no longer ignore.

Of course it's true that Dick preferred to stay in his group, but after the team messed up with other worlds and have a killer on their tracks like Deathstroke you can not leave them just because Batman go ape shit.

And Batman was rather immature at that time.
>>
>>82378064
What an arrogant kid, no wonderr Harper is Batman's favourite. She shows some respect at least, was also the only one sad about Bruce getting his skull crushed and dying.
>>
Come on Snyder, Damian is Bruce's real son, not just some fucker. that you can replace.Snyder is making me kind of angry. But Snyder is shoehorning in Duke as the new Robin and leaving Damian out in the cold and that's pissing me off.. He hasn't called to talk to his Father or to Alfred? In Tomasi's Batman and Robin Alfred loved Damian with all his heart, but in Batman Snyder makes it seem like Alf could care less about Damian.

I'll admit, at first I gave Superman shit about that too. But as I thought about it, I realized that the fact that a clone made up of his and luthor's DNA staring him in the face is kind of a hard thing to swallow and people pushing him to be a father to the boy right of the bat just makes things worse.

Plus we all know that if he had accepted Superboy from the get go then people would be complaining about how Clark is so perfect for not having any problem with it.

That Superman lied to Jon for most of his life.

The worst thing Bruce ever did to Damian (outside of letting him be Robin, because that never ends well) was to tell him to stop killing people.
