I think its more the demographic that her music appeals to.
Before 1989 or whatever the fuck the album was called she was mostly a country musician and it wasn't until that album was released did she win a fuck load of awards and start filling entire stadiums.
She is an amazingly attractive girl but you can't attribute her success to her looks when majority of her fans are teenage girls who love her for her lyrics and music style.
