Bump

That last thread really drives home how terrible most digital recolours are. The scanned issues, while strictly duller, had a lot more life to them. The actual process of printing them on newsprint with all the individual colour dots manage to create a kind of inherent shading despite it being all flats. The recolours end up looking all overbright and empty. Somehow cheaper than the crappy paper they actually used to print this stuff on.

>overbright flats
It gives everything a weird clip-art feel. I DEFINITELY prefer it to recolors though.
How SHOULD digital editions be handled? I wouldn't be opposed to running everything through a "retro filter" but then again that seems like a whole different type of bad.

Yeah I'm glad I could just buy the 90's reprints of Warlock rather than the collection

A recolor doesn't have to be bad, but it will feel off seeing digital colors on older comic art like Walt Simonson's Thor

A lot of stuff from the 80s probably looks better, once you start hitting things drawn for Baxter paper. But even then a fill tool isn't a printing press.
Reading bump.

So it begins...

Believe it or not, the Infinity Gauntlet isn't for almost 20 years. Thanos actually gathers all six gems before he even considers using them as the Gauntlet, and uses them to power a massive (solar system destroying) cannon.

As you would. I haven't read that story, but I have read Thanos Quest and Infinity Gauntlet, and remember Thanos talking about his knowledge of the Gems evolving, and using them as a hammer, when they should have been used as a scalpel.

Man, was Starfox ever not a jackass?
