Can we have one of these threads? Just cuts of comic panels with good/bad feels? Superman preferred but other characters are good too.

Pic related is my all time favorite

Oh God this one gets me every time.

Not simply because Pa Kent is dying, but just the idea that Clark has been constantly listening to his parents' heartbeats for essentially all his life, and in spite of everything that he hears every day, he STILL notices when one heart out of billions of humans' hearts stops.

It's a nice story but it was essentially JMS replacing essentially a randomly but adorable written animal for Krypto. There are plenty of images along the feels created in these panels (and I do agree with you that Superman Earth One had a lot of really good images in all three volumes, interspersed with the more problematic ones/themes) such as this from Convergence Superboy and the Legion of Superheroes.

And here is what any hardcore Batman would never accept - Superman can easily and comfortably say to Bruce 'you're the best' but whenever there is a scene where Batman is showing as stating something (as with Justice League v1 Origin or even in Worlds' Finest v6 Secret History of Superman Batman that the planet needed Superman and they can't accept that as something Bruce would (much less need to) say.

Its better because Bruce doesn't let him get away with it out of fear, but because he genuinely loves Clark as a friend, and lets him have his fun, because deep down Bruce enjoys the big of fun that Clark brings to his life. Quote from Grant Morrison.

>In the end, I saw Superman not as a superhero or even a science fiction character, but as a story of Everyman. We’re all Superman in our own adventures. We have our own Fortresses of Solitude we retreat to, with our own special collections of valued stuff, our own super–pets, our own “Bottle Cities” that we feel guilty for neglecting. We have our own peers and rivals and bizarre emotional or moral tangles to deal with.

>I felt I’d really grasped the concept when I saw him as Everyman, or rather as the dreamself of Everyman. That “S” is the radiant emblem of divinity we reveal when we rip off our stuffy shirts, our social masks, our neuroses, our constructed selves, and become who we truly are. Batman is obviously much cooler, but that’s because he’s a very energetic and adolescent fantasy character: a handsome billionaire playboy in black leather with a butler at this beck and call, better cars and gadgetry than James Bond, a horde of fetish femme fatales baying around his heels and no boss. That guy’s Superman day and night.

>Superman grew up baling hay on a farm. He goes to work, for a boss, in an office. He pines after a hard–working gal. Only when he tears off his shirt does that heroic, ideal inner self come to life. That’s actually a much more adult fantasy than the one Batman’s peddling but it also makes Superman a little harder to sell. He’s much more of a working class superhero.

>American writers often say they find it difficult to write Superman. They say he’s too powerful; you can’t give him problems. But Superman is a metaphor. For me, Superman has the same problems we do, but on a Paul Bunyan scale. If Superman walks the dog, he walks it around the asteroid belt because it can fly in space. When Superman’s relatives visit, they come from the 31st century and bring some hellish monster conqueror from the future. But it’s still a story about your relatives visiting.

Is it really flaunting in this case? Since when is "Dinner, My treat" the same as "Dinner, I'm better than you"?
>>
>>82371962
they aren't really criminals just people heading down a bad path. they didn't have bullets in the guns because they didn't want to hurt anyone. they probably didn't even want to commit the crime, just wanted to get a way out of their everyday problems with money

well it was a symbolic way for Superman to show his gratitude to his friends so it would have been strange if Batman paid for it
>>
>>82371962
Seems to me you'd prefer Judge Dredd's justice over Superman's.
The situation really only works because he's Superman and can see that the gunmen don't pose any real threat; a real cop would have to either arrest them or kill them. Still, is it not better that two people who made an impassioned mistake get to make up for it rather than rot in prison for 10-15 years or, you know, die?

And if Superman wasn't there they would have kept going.

Committing a crime is not a mistake, it's a voluntary act. They decided to go against the law willingly and thus deserve to be punished, only because they stopped before doing damage it doesn't mean they did nothing wrong.

Like I said this is a fuck you to the suckers that don't even think about committing crimes.
>>

you can absolutely commit a crime by accident
>>
>>82372648

There are such things as crimes of passion, you know. You're correct, it's doesn't make it 'right' to commit a crime. But there's a clear difference between the men Superman stopped and, say, unrepentant serial criminals such as Joker, Luthor, and the like.

No there isn't.
This picture >>82372487 did it right, the guy is clearly just sperging out so it's fine to just stop him.
The people in OP's picture are different, they planned their actions, thought about it, took their guns, their blaclavas and planned their crime. They are criminals at all effects.

What crime did they commit, exactly? The only thing we know from that image is that Superman stopped them. Was it before or after they had already done something? What was the something that they did if it was after?

>Like I said this is a fuck you to the suckers that don't even think about committing crimes.
Luckily, low-brows like yourself aren't allowed near the law-making process. A victimless crime should never carry the same consequences as one where real people or property are intentionally and irreversibly damaged.

So? It's still a crime, only because it's victimless it doesn't mean you wouldn't get arrested and prosecuted for it.

But sure go on, they just planned everything and they were going to commit it if not stopped but is fine.
And you have the courage to call other low-brows when you are a fucking retard.
If there is enough evidence you were going to commit a crime you can be stopped before you actually do it.

They aren't criminals because they didn't commit any crimes. They were going to, but Superman stopped them, and even then they weren't even going the whole way with it, they hesitated even when they were going to commit a crime. Superman isn't going to beat them up and throw them in jail for 'about to attempt a half-hearted robbery', because Superman isn't an asshole, he knows people are pressured sometimes, and humans can be weak and succumb to temptation, but not only did they hesitate to commit the robbery, but they had no intention of even going all the way, those men had a moment of weakness, and Superman isn't going to throw them in jail for a moment of weakness.

do you think DC will ever go back to form and fix Superman? no tacticool armor, no "we want to modernize his costume so no underwear" but just pure superman? in looks and personality?

you think maybe by 2020 things will shift back, sort of how the 90's tried to be all edgy but eventually went back to normal?

Sooner or later the old guard will leave/get fired. Everything being cyclical I'm hoping the next generation of writers will be part of my generation that grew up with the Zero Hour characters, and so Kyle and Conner and Cass and others will be front and center again. Much like how this current generation was hellbent on bringing back everyone from the satellite era.
>>
>>82374628
How did you come to that conclusion. If a wife or husband's full time job was a superhero, they would feel something like that.
>>
>>82374920
Well, Superman's personality should be closer to normal after rebirth (hopefully), and I thing that the costume thing is them still being bitter over the lawsuit thing.
>>
>>82374920

You do know were talking about Superman right? You're acting like these guys would run around the corner and throw their masks back on and go back to the robber. When fucking Superman flies down and tells you to knock it off, a couple of regular joes aren't going to go "Okay, wait till he leaves and lets go back at it"

Fuck you're acting like they are experienced thugs who regularly go up against super heroes. It's the same shit as a kid about to do something bad, only for their parents to catch them right before the act. Shame and guilt is a powerful weapon, especially if it's being delivered by THE GREATEST HERO IN THE ENTIRE WORLD Do you really think those guys, who don't even have bullets in their guns, and are wearing regular street clothes with some ski masks, would seriously keep going after getting shamed by Superman of all people?

>>82375402
seems to me though they are slowly but surely moving him back.

MoS suit itself was really fine aside from the lack of underwear, it was the Nu52 suit that was all tacticool armor.

this new suit is basically traditional spandex but with blue boots and no underwear.

the MoS cues are pretty much just the extended wrist
>>
>>82375001

It's cyclical, but I think it's an upward spiral.

I'd be VERY tempted myself but you have to show more respect to Superman. Also, no matter how much of a pervert I may be, I'd be much better off with a superhug from the world's most perfect man that a assgrab.
Tough choice between hug and "no strings attached" one night stand with him though. The second would produce no good long-term results and end in unimaginable heartbreak but he's canonly hung and has so much stamina and dominating appearance and attitude when he wants it.
