Last time we talked about:

-Who /co/lette's rogues are and how they arn't often used as her rogues
-Tats' actual journalism jobs
-The person with the paint/ink powers, Holly, got brought up again
-Douchebag Executive Man continues to be evil with some kind of contraversal side-kick he's trying to force on General Freedom
-Some WIP pages from The Lovely Ladybug issue 5 were posted (pic and OP related)

It was another slow thread.

well people didn't like this idea that much last week but I guess I'll draw one or two panels/pictures for it anyway.

Basically Tats has been investigating the ruined lifes of rather unknown heroes, at some point she finds an old comics issue about the origins of a certain well known hero, writer is unknown and the publisher doesn't exist anymore. The issue shows where this hero was created, she then realizes that this issue is a story of success that doesn't show the failures.

Some other details, the story starts with her investigating a suicide case(kinda cliche but meh) a rather unknown but beloved hero in his neighbourhood was found death, Tats was only supposed to write an article about him and his life but as she starts her research, she finds nothing about his past. It wasn't that uncommon that the real identity of heroes is unknown but some low-tier street level heroes didn't care that much, this special hero was always happy which is why noone cared that much about his personal life, the true was he had none. Later she finds out that besides his corpse there was a comic about his origins that seemed really new.
>>
>>82360473
A hero who didn't have a secret identity who is always happy had his life ruined by a greedy business man who capitalized on his likeness and made up lies about him?
>>
>>82360905

well my solution to this particular mystery was that he always had his origin comics around him but was never able to read it because he feared he'll remember something horrible. One day he actual reads it and it was a very tame generic story written but an amateur writer from DEMs company, he then remembers his actual origins which was nothing like that and then he kills himself, he had no past for a reason I guess.

he wasn't born, he was created, he is the first hint to the bigger scheme, she realizes this when its too late though. Tats never investigated much about heroes because they always were the surface, a world that seemed to be doing fine but through him she finds her way into the personal life of other heroes. He had contact with others, actually secretly he was part of a self-help group for heroes who couldn't deal with the stress of the day to day business, there she finds one special person who had a hard life which was so tragic it was almost comical. She finds more such tragic heroes, who seem to have some kind of connection, at some point she finds a comic which showed what happened to a hero eventhough noone else should know about it, she then tracks down the publisher and finds other comics, which did show the tragic past of some heroes she already encountered, these were way older though, it was like they showed the future. The comics didn't exactly show what happened/will happen, it seems like whoever was making these comics went through some kind of change, the older the comic the more optimistic were the stories. Also the comics had different publisher with anonymous writer.

Its worth mentioning that the business of comics based on real heroes, is an old bussines, many publisher started their own comics but at the end a few bigger companies gained control over the whole market.

Sometimes comics get made based on the ideas, so that's cool.

sorry but I'm not good at english, I'm primary a drawfag and not a writefag anyway but I still need a convulted narrative to be motivated enough to draw something.

I already explained the setting before, basically in a world with heroes, making comics of their daily life is an old, established bussiness. in the beginning there ware many local publisher but at the end a few companies gained control over the whole market and turned it into a bigger industry by adding tv-series and movies to the franchise. These comics are very controversal because they have a bigger influence on peoples opinions about heroes.

Now to the guy who killed himself, lets call him Mister Nice Man who has above average strength. Nice Man is a local hero who on the bright side is loved by everyone, his neighbourhood is very uneventfull that is way he mostly helps older people, he is an older hero and has seen worse times. On the not so bright side, hardly anyone cares about him on a personal level and its not like it would've been hard to figure out who he was but that is how it always has been for other street level heroes, some people might want to read about them and their adventures even about their (fictional) personal drama but most of the time, noone really makes an efford to know them better. Because of the hard times mentioned above Nice Man visited a self-help group for heroes, the heroes there might have different problems but they can relate to each other because they are now in the same situation.
Everytime Nice Man came home, there was not much there, a television a couch, no fotos but comics about himself.
>>
>>82378426
Nice Man had an on-going comic run since years, street level heroes sometimes get those, they are mostly done for practice by newcomer authors, that is why a comic can have many different writers over time.

Nice Man always liked to read these comics, yet he never did read the first issue which contained his origins, he just can't remember his origins and knows he doesn't want to. Basically he was repressing those memories.

This is supposed to be a bigger plottwist but I doubt I'm gonna do much with this so yeah. After he did read his origins comic he remembered his actual origins. He remembered the chamber in which he was created, from a baby to a grown teen, he remembered how he got older within days. Once he reached a certain age, he was set free and once he was out of the chamber he saw he was not the only one, there were many other chambers.

this issue >>82360473 is not about Nice Man though, this is about the most successful case of a created hero.
>>
>>82364147

well in this else-world story, Tats doesn't care/know much about comics/heroes, I guess Conrad can be a great source of information not only about comics but also about the real world of street level heroes.

I've been thinking about a possible origin story for them. Can't remember if I've posted it already or not.

We have an as-of-yet unnamed shady company working in the background trying to find a way to reliably engineer superhumans. They've cropped up a few times, like with Toxique, as the people responsible for certain villains. I was thinking, Stretch and Blackstrap are likely two generations of a project designed to explore the viability of increasing the likelihood of a superhuman's offspring inheriting their power.

They were able to find two low-power superhumans, a man and a woman, with stretching abilities. They paid them a significant amount of money for genetic material, artificially gestated several babies, then attempted to forcibly induce an activation of their powers. Only one of the first test group survived, albeit with some noticeable malformations. A few years later, test group four succeeded in producing a seemingly perfect offspring.

It was Haley finding out about the circumstances of their births, and the multitude of their dead, stillborn siblings, that caused her to flee the facility, taking Laura with her.

Well whatever it is it's adorable.

It does seem like a little of the dreaded roleplay could be a good way to generate content which has been lacking lately. I feel sure there'd be people willing to play Stretcherous and Erin, at least.
>>
>>82382389
I've tried joint story telling in these threads before, there's never been much interest in it.

Sometimes they still get talked about, like the tower heist, or the Chicken Divine train caper, or the museum theft.

I know there were some that didn't involve stealing things.

4chan as a whole heavily stigmatizes roleplaying and in general anything more "autistic" than a CYOA. On a board explicitly created for that purpose it might have more luck.

Maybe. Then again we weren't even able to sustain an outpost on our own nsfw sister board so I suppose time will tell.

Given how young he is, it makes more sense to me to have him be /tg/'s son.
>>
>>82388294
When was the last time that was really the case, though? /mlp/?
I feel that being a "son" would be too big of an implication, and with quests annoying a good amount of /tg/ anons enough that a board was made, that sort of thing fits in the "annoying sibling" kind of dynamic.

>gotten to the point where there are no sibling board-tans who don't hate each other.
To be fair, that's mostly because just about everyone on this site hates each other. I mean, it's old hat, but it's true. It's the same truth that says that even with that, there are times where that hate's put aside and people come together. Course, I say this as a sucker for family interactions like that.
Then there's the whole "shipping" aspect, with who the mother is, and that can get dangerously cheesy. I can't forget about what happened with that Winter Ball nonsense.
You could almost think of it like a step-brother from Hiro.
>>
>>82389142
There's only so many times I can stand the "they hate each other but they really love each other... JAY KAY, nope, they really do hate each other" plot.

I think we have enough of that with /v/'s family, /co/'s relationship with /mlp/, and also /a/ and /m/'s issues whenever they're in the same place for too long.

/qst/ has been a board for all of 4 days and everyone has already made up their minds that /tg/ should hate him?
I haven't even seen that much hate about this on either board, it's all remarkably civil compared to all the other times a "containment" board has been created.

/tg/ and /lit/ don't have any history together.

I'm pretty sure even long hair /lit/ is still a guy since every time I asked about that they said their board-tan was still male.
>>
>>82389651
I'm not contradicting myself, I'm making a point. /qst/ is a supplement board for /tg/, so it makes sense to think of it as a "brother" board to /tg/. People on /tg/ don't necessarily hate quests, there just always was a population that wished they weren't always on the board. Being siblings and having the kind of dynamic that comes with it doesn't atomically mean "hate" is involved, it just means that there's a closeness that only you get that can either cause conflict or bring you together.
IN any case, honestly, I've yet to see anything beyond >>82382307, so it's a moot point for me.
>>
>>82391030

that would makes sense since /lit/ hates women
>>
>>82391161
There isn't much /qst/-tan content currently since the board is only 4 days old.

One of the points I'm trying to get across here is that it seems like the discussion about him has already been "set in stone" with no one willing to listen to reasons why /qst/ being /tg/'s son would be better than him being a kid brother.

1. The hated sibling dynamic has already been done several times over and there is currently no real hate between /tg/ and /qst/ to justify using that approach
2. /qst/-tan is being depicted as a very young child, the age difference between him and /tg/-tan is too extreme since /qst/-tan is depicted as being the same age as both /co/ and /d/'s respective children

And this is all I can do for it, hopefully someone will actually make some use of the thread before it ends up gone and I'll see it tomorrow with some new discussion.

It's the reverse of the usual system. Most boards force you to wait longer if you're posting an image, but when that was instated /co/ went up in flames because it basically killed storytimes. Rather than just removing it, moot flipped it to make storytimes even easier.

well, it started with one suicide case then she finds about the tragic life other heroes who seemed kinda connected and then she finds the comics that predicted those tragic lifes.

Then she finds the special issue >>82392307 which contains the story of the artificial creation of a certain hero.

I guess I can bump the thread with my convulted narrative.

FUTURE MEN

before WW2, the american government found an old alien spaceship with advanced technology. Nothing much was still functioning still the scientist were able to use the board computer to dislay footage of the alien race. What they saw was footage of a machine that created creatures with superpowers for invasion, they found out this ship was supposed to invade earth and enslave humanity. The scientist found the monster creating mashine but it was mostly broken, only the core survived, the energy generating part was also broken and it was the most crucial part because creating creatures consumed a lot of energy. The scientist salvaged the core and build new hardware around it to create super soldiers themselfs. Due to the lack of knowledge and not enough energy, the creatures created by the machine were mostly abominations who could barely survive a few days. Only some of them made it alive and only one case turned into a full success. The scientists used almost all the energy of the grit to create what seemed almost like a god, the scientist called him and other minor successes future men. Meanwhile WW2 was already at its worst, the future men were supposed to save the situation, people needed hope that is way the strongest soldier was called General Freedom. Due to the big loss of money during war and the fact that the future men project had only one success the future men project got its budget cut and because it was a top secret project only few knew about it was mostly forgotten.

One of the scientist who allways liked drawing saw how more and more comics about heroes were made, he specially liked the comics of General Freedom, he regrettet all the failures yet he was proud of what had become of him, the figure of hope people needed during hard times. He collected all those comics by different writers, he liked the different origins comics but none of them got it right. He felt like this part was missing in his collection, issue 1 General Freedom Origins, that is way he drew it himself only for his collection and noone else should see it.

The son of the scientist was DEM, he and his friends always enjoyed reading the comic collection of DEMs father. After DEMs father dies, DEM finds the first issue of General Freedom.

to be coninued->

Last week it used to be that making a post with no image followed by making an image post would reduce the wait time to 30 seconds.

Now it increases it by 30 seconds.

So why don't these threads get much attention, anyway? From what I can tell there's a lot in quantity but still a good lot in quality.
>>
>>82412815
Because the vast majority of drawfags are in it for waifus and titty monsters, and you need images on an imageboard
>>
>>82412815
There's not a lot of quality though. Most of it is just nonsense that goes nowhere, which is the biggest turn off to people wanting to contribute.

How do you find an artist to draw your books?
>>
>>82414489
By being friends with one, or having some of your work available so you can try to find someone to collaborate with. Or by paying someone to do it, obviously.
>>
>>82414654
I don't mind paying, but like, where do you start to look?
>>
>>82414710
Plenty of artists have contact info on the portfolio / tumblr / whatever, and you can try directly messaging people that way. There are forums for this kind of thing too - I believe digital webbing has a section for paid jobs, for example. Might want to look around and figure out what kind of artist to look for based on your budget and stuff before diving into any of that, but there should be info on it out there if you look around.

Any recomendations for finding local talent and not just looking towards the open sea of the internet.
