His origin story is told in Legend of the Blue Marvel. It's not very good but it's probably worth reading if only to know where he came from, though as I said, it's kinda shitty. There was also a one-shot where he fights King Hyperion in Age of Heroes #3 that's worth checking out since it shows how he came out of retirement.
The recommend reading for him would be Ewing's Mighty Avengers followed by Captain America and the Mighty Avengers. It's by the same writer as The Ultimates so that's the best thing to read for more of him.

I haven't read that series, but I'm guessing Ewing prefers giving light to lower tier characters, and Scott doing smart shit would sort of conflict with his current direction in his book. Plus Ewing can do more with him character-wise than Scott if he's going to be reoccurring.

Well Adam, Monica, and Carol actually sync with each other really well power wise. Monica can turn into energy, Adam can manipulate it/power it up, and Carol can absorb it to become more powerful.
So Adam can give Monica a power boost then Carol can absorb Monica to get a double-power boost. Using their powers in tandem, they'd be able to reach insane power levels.

Writers are inherently lazy creatures and like reusing things when they can get away with it. Hell, Issue six of this is retreading the whole Narrative thing Ewing did in Loki:AoA.

For the most part. The Superflow also has the whole "dreams" element that isn't part of The Bleed. See, the original New Universe's Nightmask's power was that he could access people's dreams, so when he re-imagined it into newuniversal, he basically re-used The Bleed for The Superflow but with the added element of The Superflow being what consciences access when we dream, so while Ellis' Nightmasks power was to access the bleed/superflow, he had to tie it back into the original Nightmask's power to access dreams, so he kinda blended the two together. There were a lot of neat ideas in newuniversal that unfortunately didn't go anywhere since he abandoned the project after his harddrive with all of his scripts and info for it got fried.
One thing I liked about The Superflow was the idea that Zeitgeists were reflected as literal weather patterns within the superflow. It's a conceptual space so what would just be ideas or memes in the real world were represented by things like storms in the superflow. That's why when Galactus and Master Order/Lord Chaos fight in the superflow, it's a battle of ideas and metaphors rather than an actual battle. Galactus punching Order is him defeating Order with the power of ideas and concepts.
I like the additional reading thing. You can call it shilling, and it is, but having read the issues they do provide interesting context to the stories.

I like that its not always current titles that they're pushing, but mostly older issues.
Love the covers on this book by the way.They use a lot of blank space and tend to make the characters look dynamic even if they're still.

Morrison was one of the four creators of hypertime (and according to Waid he was the one that came up with the "everything is true" approach and also the one who designed it). And Ewing totally ripped hypertime in issue #5
