This is one of those things that tells me Megatron isn't so different.

Someone tried to kill him, and he's not pissed off that they tried, he's pissed off that they couldn't do it.

And to be honest, his whole speech to Tarn reminded me of his talk with Optimus. He's very good at pissing people off when he wants to.

Was he trying to piss off Tarn, though, or is he just good at it naturally?

Also, could his line of being angry from being nearly killed being less about the attempt and more about the failure reflect back to Starscream, who has made no secret he wanted leadership, but sucked at it in the past?

It would make sense if it's the same problem as Starscream. Heck, it'd be hilarious if Megatron's response to Getaway when they get back to the Lost Light was a "Well done." (Which would really piss off Getaway, so everyone wins!)

As for whether his master baiting of Tarn was intentional, well, it's hard to tell. It wouldn't surprise me if it was, since he's had experience needling people. Optimus, Starscream, why not Tarn?

I mean, one way I could see it working is he knows Tarn's teamed up with Deathsaurus. He knows about Tarn's obsessions, he knows about Deathsaurus' mercies. If he can make Deathsaurus realise that Tarn is a ticking time bomb, that working with him puts his crew in danger... I could see them turning on the DJD.

All without firing a shot, or throwing a punch.

She frankly seemed one of the more overpowered. Sure she wasn't the most physically imposing but she was fast, stealthy, capable of flight, capable of borrowing (she had incredible capacity for ambush and escape). She had webbing that could lock down most bots, including the "heavy" fighters like Breakdown and Dreadwing. She was a superior lonewolf to Starscream even before we discovered she could mindcontrol insecticons. And I'd count them as part of her strength given it was a direct mental control as far as we saw. They had no will of their own, only hers. She came close to slagging Megatron using one of her minions and wasn't above cheating by clogging his cannon with her webbing.

She was defeated but then so was every other Decepticon. Repeatedly.

Looking at Megatron's face here, I think he's definitely baiting Tarn. That's not an "at peace" face.

Also, the fact that he's not using his inbuilt spacebridginess. If Tarn shoots him, there's every possibility it'll end up in a neighbouring star system or something, or come out of Megatron's leg.

It was planned as a mini-series set between "The Rebirth" and Beast Wars. It was then cut down to one issue. It was also promoted as being in continuity with IDW's "The Gathering" and "The Ascending" but that seems like bullshit. I doubt any new Beast Wars fiction will treat it as canon unless it is written by the same guy. (And will there ever even be more new Beast Wars fiction?)

I might get him to sign (initial?) my old G2 Bumblebee. Failing that, MP Bee.

I decided to look him up on the wiki, turns out he did Hot Spot, Snapdragon and Rollbar too. Plus did Skids and Outback once (they had other voice actors too). So that's more options.
>>
>>82317338
I've had a soft spot for G1 Bumblebee so I'll go with a print or the book like that one anon suggested.

Are you going to get the (sealed?) box signed, or like, the hood of the actual figure or...

Outback was pretty cool, although he played a larger role in the Marvel comics.

>buy your Combiner Wars Hot Spot to get signed because it'll be worth a fortune one day!
>>
>>82317833
I'm honestly not sure. Last year I had Peter Cullen sign the soundbox from my G2 Optimus which looks great in trailer mode. Bee doesn't have such an obvious spot. The box is neat, but I'm not really a guy who displays boxes, so I'd rather the toy itself.

Question. How would the bots recognize Tarn as Roller if he takes off his mask? Majority of bots got the G1 similarity thing going on with faces.
>>
>>82321700
That's a good question. I'm guessing someone, probably Megatron, will actually say his name and they'll know from that.
>>
>>82287587
The -ations where really the last timeI was invested in TF fiction. I think I've slowly drifted away from Transformers since Animated ended. I was huge into it from '96-2010 or so, but between AHM and the ongoing being a let down, and TFP being dull to me.Now I just keep a casual interest; I peek into the happenings of the comic now and then but its all so far from what Transformers was when I was really deep into it.

Its interesting to see how much the fandom has changed. Sunbow G1 and especially the 86 movie aren't treated as the end-all be-all; in fact if anything it feels like people are just tired of '86 movie references. Beast Wars isn't the sacred cow anymore, and a lot of newer fans don't hold it in the same regard as those of us who where around when it was still new. the whole UT era seems largely forgotten except for those who grew up with it..

Sometimes the dialogue in these comics are hard to follow. the way they toss out terms, like what the fuck is "syk spasm"? A weapon? A medical condition? A narcotic? The "He was obviously using," suggests he does drugs.

Syk is a Transformers drug, yes, established by a single reference in an obscure UK comics, natch. It took me waaaay too many years to realize it's just a sci-fi way of spelling "Psych".
>>
>>82331127
No really. Tarn is an extremely vulnerable character and always has been. With everything going on especially, it's no surprise he's being pushed over the edge.
>>
>>82334823
Which is funny since kill his own team weakens his bargaining position with both Deathsaurus and Overlord because Decepticons respect power. Tarn is banking on leveraging Kaon making them look weak with the badass murder cred he earns by killing Kaon, however both of the other Cons are intelligent enough that they're doing the standard math in their head and coming up with one less member of the DJD makes Tarn ultimately weaker.
>>
>>82335803
I don't mind sci-fi lingo in works, I love Farscape way too much to do otherwise. But when they write it up like that, especially in a comic which by design limits how many words they can cram into a page, it just becomes too confusing. It's not even a "damn dirty casuals" thing since you can be a Transformers fan of long standing and not know what the hell they're talking about.

"He's obviously using what? A syk spasm? Is that a martial arts technique for ripping someone's spine out?"

They do themselves zero favors when they write like this.
>>
>>82337000
Maybe it's just because I grew up having druggie uncles, cousins, and various other relatives, but 'using' made it a pretty clear reference to some kind of drug for me.
>>
>>82337000
Some reason I was thinking Syk as in Sick. Usually comics include an * with a bit of info box on the bottom explaining odd lingo. Wish these comics used it. I like learning these new things.
>>
>>82337114
I know what you mean. Just include a little box explaining what it is and sign it James "Breakin' Bad" Roberts or whatever. It's usually the editor but Roberts is the only name I can think of off the top of my head.

>>82337074
You can definitely get that he's on drugs, sure, but the rest of that box maybe could have been better. You could say, "Roadbuster was on some kind of-I'm not even sure what it was, some kind of SYK SPASM?" That'd get you there. Saying "Roadbuster had some kind of" combined with spasm sounds like he's having some kind of fit or psychotic break. Which was true enough, I gather, only one that was drug induced.

I guess this sounds nitpicky at this point.
>>
>>82316748

They had many millions of years of divergence.
>>
>>82335131
Is this supposed to look like the animated adventures of not-My Second Life Sex Life?
>>
>>82337305
That kind of implies he was on something called 'syk spasm', which would be a weird way of wording it if you meant a spasm caused by syk. The wording isn't really that you're 'on' a bad trip. You're on whatever drug strikes your fancy and then you have a bad trip.
Don't worry, we can be nitpicky together.
>>
>>82337489
Only if you visit Eukaris but since beastformers were apparently once native to Cybertron, and given that as mechanical lifeforms who live for millions and millions of years and don't actually procreate with each other there isn't really evolutionary divergence. Technological, spiritual, culture, sure but not, in any way we've seen, genetically. CNA exists but that's about all you can say for it.

>>
>>
>>82337839
Either some of us are dense or maybe it is confusing on-page. I suspect part of it is that it might be hard mentally for some fans to immediately go to, "Oh yeah, that's a drug reference," when dealing with Transformers. IDW is just a special kind of universe that way.

We'll probably never get a scene like this ever again:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EBUXVZcb2M

Unless Combiner Wars goes that far, which could be interesting. More like a Netflix series, only I wish it were a Netflix serious instead of whatever piece of obscure crap it's showing up on.

Although now that I think about it there were the Constructicons in Animated in terms of their appreciation of oil.
>>
>>82339147
It was Kaon's fault. Little shit broke kayfabe. Worse he did so in front of people Tarn couldn't just murder outright.
>>
>>82337890
I can't wait for Deathy to fuck this bitch over. I refuse to believe he's just gonna sit there and watch Tarn pull that shit. Unless he plans to help Overlord egg Tarn into killing all of the DJD. Which honestly, would be amazing.
>>
>>82340007
I'm not sure he'd fuck over the DJD...yet. He might actually try to engineer Tarn into killing some more of his team, but only because it makes his people safer. If Tarn is going to start murdering people like this then just betraying him would be risky. Thinning the DJD out a bit more would help. Tarn surely can't replace membership very easily now that the war is over. Does he even have access to the resources to create more super bots capable of enough ultraviolence to scare the Decepticons straight? The way I see it this wouldn't be Deathsaurus being hypocritical since Tarn already started.

At any rate I'd much rather that Tarn end up killing the majority of his team without anyone manipulating him. Because I want him to go full Megatron and only when he's murdered his way through his team and one-time friends does he realize...he has nothing left. Trying to live like the true Megatron the current Megatron has forsaken costs him everything. I want Tarn to realize just how hollow and pointless this path has rendered his life. Then and only then he says a single word that causes his own head to explode.

>>82341237
Yeah, sorry for making a scene. I'm not against the website, the joke was just based on how people react to the mere mention of it here.
