I don't disagree the Lich being their magnum opus but if we're talking which episodes that capture the humor and random tone that Adventure Time had in their first seasons than its gotta be Blood Under the Skin and Ocean of Fear

NuPPG's animation process requires a lot less work than the original Powerpuff girls. Now, it is true that it is unfair to assume that the NuPPG should be devoid of any/most errors, but lets compare it mathematically.
Let us assume that the Original PPG series is 100. In that 100 they had, say, 20 animation errors. Okay.
Now this NuPPG represents 20 because they have only had so few episodes so far. They've accumulated 10 errors. Yes, it is less than the series, but if you look at the percentage that is 20% for the Original and 50% for the New.
The new, I should mention, still has more advanced equipment to avoid these issues. So...Why in the blood soaked studio hell should we NOT ride their ass for not pointing out so many fucking mistakes when the old, more primitively made series managed to avoid it a lot less?

Hm, I see what you mean.
I try to define it as being a mix of both the generally best episode (you know, funny, good character action, good dialogue, good animation, inventive and imaginative, ect) and something I find defines many of the main aspect of the show.
That's why I side with this >>82208479, DD has
>Finn and Jake side by side creaming badies
>You get a good enough feel for their characters to understand them and be invested even if you're unfamiliar with the show
>An interesting setting full of creative and fun monsters for the duo to fight
>Good jokes, gags, dialogue, all that stuff
>Implication of something dark and terrible under the cheery exterior (what with their dad having died a gruesome death in the past)
>The ending which is a great example as to how Finn and Jake bring out the best in each other, plus it's an awesome action scene
Finally, Finn and Jake walking into the sunset with their loot, wistfully talking about their dead paw, is the perfect mix of happy and sad that the best of Adventure Time nails.
I think kind of trimming the show down to just focusing on the random, surreal humor is kind of missing the point, but people judge things differently and shit.

Normally I'd just call you a massive cock-gobbling faggot and leave it at that but I will say this. The argument that a reboot should be examined on it's own merit is retarded as fuck. A remake must be compared to its predecessor in order to see exactly how it's changed the IP for better or worse. Neither DmC nor nuppg hold up to their predecessors. And even examined by their own merits, they're both still pretty shit.

>Hello, my name is Mr. Snrub. And I come from, uh... someplace far away.
>So in conclusion, Mono means one and rail means rail.
>Pardon me, but I would like to see this money spent on more police officers. I have been shot eight times this year, and as a result, I almost missed work.
>Crybaby.
>Hmm, excellent... hello, Lisa! I'm Genghis Khan! You'll go where I go, defile what I defile, eat who I eat!
It's insane how many great jokes they could put into one episode back then. Didn't even quote close to all of them.

Agreed. The tension in this episode was thicker than anyone before, or since.

The finale could've surpassed it if Alex actually had the balls to kill someone off.And don't say Bill because I call bullcrap that he's been killed.

I would've liked it more if Grunkle Stan didn't get his memories back. Like they told him about the summer and he accepts those things but is unable to actually recall any of it and has to start from scratch with his brother.

would have been better ifgrunkle stan doesn't remember anything at all but lie about it to the kids to make them feel better, while ford helps stan to make him remember the way he wanted to remember his brother.
