Pitch a new Superman TV series (live action or animated, whatever) which is not totally episodic but which does not feature any of picture related as major foes.

Can /co/ come up with ideas that make Superman more than just someone to have a beatdown with a big enemy or to have Lex as a foil?

Multi arc season with the ongoing plot being Clark and the Daily Planet crew investigating the uptick in supervillain attacks only to discover a shadowy group referring to itself as The 100 has been surreptitiously aiding and encouraging the villains before buying up the damaged property for cheap. Their end goal is the massive gentrification of central Metropolis so that normal crime is pushed to the outlying parts and suburbs, and with it Superman's primary focus, leaving them free reign to engage in more clandestine crimes at a lower risk.

Huh, that's pretty good, I like it. I'd certainly watch it for a few episodes at least.

So you want some Beware the Batman bullshit? Where he fights a bunch of Donut Steels?

DC's Action Cartoons

Like Batman: Brave and the Bold in its generally light and optimistic tone, but presented with a sort of grandiose prestige. Hire Morrison as a boarder, get as much of the B:BatB team as possible, hire fresh creative people, and people who take DC seriously to balance things out.
Superman doesn't have to be the main character of every episode. He doesn't even have to appear in them all.

Pretty sure Superman has fought more than 7 villains in his extensive career. Why don't you try to think a little?

The point of this exercise is to see what sort of cool stuff people can think of when they don't immediately run to the A-lister foes.

I don't know why Superman writers don't use more gangsters, he's got two crime syndicates operating out of Metropolis.
>>
>>82027755
Presumably it's because gangsters can't do shit against Superman and TV writers like to avoid working and writing creative scenarios where gangsters are actually a threat.
>>
>>82027751
I suppose. Maybe he fights HIVE or something over the course of a season and fights some little guys along the way like Parasite or Atomic Skull. Also have Lex Luthor there but not be a straight up antagonist, you simply can't have Superman with Lex Luthor not present.
>>
>>82027808
Intergang actually is a threat due to them trafficking alien technology. Besides, it's not like half of Luthor's schemes don't involve a high degree of "you can't prove it."
>>
>>82027839
Yeah, I feel like LexCorp at least should always be around, and have Lex as this public figure you see in news reports or people talk about but never really facing off against Superman as a villain.

Of course, implying that he could be the shady benefactor to people like Metallo is fine.
>>
>>82027839
You just have Luthor in jail or dead or President.

Also Parasite would be great arc villain if you use the ones that can steal identities.

>>82027851
Oh don't worry, I agree, Intergang should be used more. I just suspect that "lol gangsters can't fite superman" is the reasoning behind why we never see it.

After several super criminals suddenly disappear from their cells without a trace, law enforcement ramp sup patrols and security measures. For a while things seem safer, but gradually paranoia sets in while people wait for the villains to strike. Lower tier supervillains like Livewire seek out Superman's help out of desperation while swearing that they're being watched. Unable to deduce where they're going with either his journalism skills or super senses, Clark realizes the majority of the villains that disappeared mainly have come into contact with him. His rogues gallery nearly depleted, he finally decides to spring a trap once he hears that supervillains such as Captain Cold and Black Manta are now disappearing. Using Livewire as bait, he follows her one night until she is mysteriously pulled to another dimension. Following after her, Clark finds himself in a cartoonish slapstick world where Mr. Mxyzptlk is pitting them against one another out of boredom. Lex Luthor leads the supervillain resistance against Mxyzptlk.

My idea:

>The show is post-Doomsday fight and Four Supermen
>Clark is back and being venerated as an almost messianic being, but in truth he is still operating at far below the strength he had during the Doomsday fight because he is still recovering
>the devestation of the battle inadvertently released a good number of captured foes who Superman could once handle, but now he's weaker, stretched thin with handling them all and they have vendettas
>one of the main arc villains is Savior (Ramsey Murdoch), who has taken a warped version of Clark's identity to parody the Messiah complex, since he believes the real Clark is still dead. He's assisting other villains as a series of tests for this "fake Superman" and causes Clark to doubt himself
>Another arc foe is the Remnant, a mysterious unidentified villain who blames Clark for bringing Doomsday to Earth at all and intends to destroy him to avoid more tragedies in the future. Uses advanced tech and illusions. Implied to possibly be Lex Luthor but never confirmed since we didn't find out about his identity in the comics.
>At the end of the season Clark confronts the Church of the Risen Superman after his battle with the Remnant/the Savior and basically breaks the faith of the church leader, William. As a result, William becomes Gog for second season arc, looking to destroy Superman for faith reasons.

'Superman of tomorrow'
Animated series inspired a bit by morrisons action comics.

With a younger superman making his way in metropolis as both clark kent (college student working toward a degree in journalism and interning at the daily planet) as well as helping out the city of metropolis as 'superman'.

Were going burgeoning powers (barely working heat vision, spotty super vision and hearing, no flight just big assisted leaps and fast running, super strength and durability of course), a not quite there costume.

It'd have superman on various adventures both learning about the city as a young man trying to become a journalist as well as trying to actively help the city grow. with a focus not on just fighting bad guys but on making metropolis a better place.

We of course have villain appearances by the likes of Prankster, atomic skull, toyman, the ultra-humanite and various other modern takes on golden age villains. maybe drifting into silver age stuff as well when it comes to the next element.

Which is that several stories will involve supermans adventure in the far flung future with the legion of super heroes.

So the show would alternate in stories between modern day and science adventure.

Glad you liked it. I've tried thinking up actual plots or stories before and it always feels lame.

Everyone likes Clark. He is a likable guy, and happens to be the best football player at Smallville High. He occasionally uses his powers to help out, but Smallville is real chill so he doesn't really need too. He's a normal kid, who long ago accepted he is an alien and is now just trying to live life normally. One night he sees a flash of light outside his house, and Pa Kent sends him out to the field to see what it is. He heads out and finds a man dressed in a strange golden suit with a golden robot. He introduces himself as Booster Gold, the greatest superhero from the 31st century. Superman, like everyone, knows about the JSA and other old heroes but is really taken aback to meet a actual cape, Booster explains he is on the run from a team of evil doers who want to prevent him from saving the 21st century, insuring the "Legion" gains control of the Earth. Clark agrees to let him recuperate at the farmhouse. He brings Booster back to the house and cue silly scene with Booster not being used to old world stuff. Eventually, Booster puts two and two togehter and realizes he is in THE Clark Kent's house. Before he can say anything, Motherfukin Timber Wolf bust through the wall and attacks Booster, or he would if Clark doesn't intervene. Cue misunderstanding fight scene between all heroes, until Clark gets put into position where he reveals his true powers and everyone realizes who he is. They apologize, repair the house with crazy 31st century tech, and explain how Booster is actual a criminal. They take Booster into custody, and leave. Superman wants to go but Lighting Lad refuses, saying that they promise to be back and maybe bring him to the future, but only after they get Booster to jail, and figure out a way to do it with out causing some sort of paradox. They leave, Clark is mystified by the idea of becoming a hero, and everything wraps up....or so it seems until we pan out and see a floating green eye watching Clark's house from a distance.
