Recommended Strange?
New Avenger's Annual #1 (2014)
Good story, beautiful and trippy art
People say to just read the Ditko regarding early work but I liked the Everett and Severin stuff after his time on it too. There's also Master of the Mystic Arts(primarily the Englehart issues), Roy Thomas' run in Volume 1 of Dr Strange and Into Shamballah which I really enjoyed. Brendan McCarthy drew Spider-Man Fever which heavily features Strange as well.

Already got it nigga.

Very solid first reply. Rudy not being on the ongoing makes me so sad.
The Dr Strange graphic novel Into Shamballa is similar in tone and art, it deserves a mention. As does the graphic novel retelling his origin, Doctor Strange Season One.
In terms of story arcs read classic Ditko and keep going if you feel like it. There's too much good shit all up and down his run to single out (although Into the Dark Dimension and either Shuma Gorath arc spring to mind).
The Oath and Triumph & Torment are the two most easily accessible so expect them to be recommended but neither's definitive Strange IMO. I specifically prefer The Doctor is Out mini to The Oath but after reading the classic stuff it doesn't hold up that well either.
>>82005570
The Oath, The Doctor Is Out and Season One are crap though.
>>82005626
Man I already agree with you on 2 out of 3 in that very post what are you complaining about.
>>82005626
The Oath is a decent comic.
>>82005716
Other two are still better.
>>82005734
Okay, will check 'em out. Didn't Frank Brunner draw an acclaimed run on Dr. Strange?
>>82005886
He drew master of the mystic arts with englehart for a bit and then gene colan takes ov r
>>82005886
First few issues of Master of the Mystic Arts by the sounds of it (which >>82005278 already rec'd).
One of the issues was specifically used by the director of the movie as inspiration IIRC.
triumph and torment strongly rec
>>82005117
Here it is. I personally recommend Triumph and Torment a.k.a. the one in which Strange and DOOM team up to fuck the Devil's shit up.

>>82006197
Cheers dudes
>>82006230
I resent the near-complete lack of Sorcerer Supreme.
It had some tight shit before the edge set in.
>>82005117
bump and damn, Luke Evans would have been a great dr strange
>>82006607
I dunno, I didn't much care for that run. They tried to make Strange too quippy and that's not who he is. The art was also frequently underwhelming.

Personally, I prefer Stern and Englehart to Lee/Ditko. I know Lee/Ditko is foundational and has a lot of beautiful art, but I just found the stories in the other two runs more enjoyable.
>>82007436
I wish there was these for every character.
>>82007540
That'd be nice.

You can get a free CBR reader online, just google it. Alternatively, you can open them like a .zip file and view the images directly.

Thanks guys.
And thanks to the host for the Dr Strange comics.
This dolphin porn is full of excellent Doctor Strange comics! Disgusting!
Reading the Shuma-Goroth series and loving it.
1. It is a total Lovecraft rip=off and it's terrific.
2. To go along with the Lovecraft theme, Strange references ancient Conan religions, places and stuff.
Brilliant.
>>82010039
You'll also like the Dark Magic saga.
>>82005117
"The Doctor is in."
i JUST got that "The Doctor Is Sin" venture bros ep title.
Damn guys, no love for What Is It That Disturbs You, Stephen?
I only now noticed they added an "inspired by" credit to Robert E Howard in each.
It feels very much like a Marvel Conan story, just swapping Conan for Strange, which is interesting as they are very opposite.
>>82010308
I enjoyed it, but it's by no means quintessential. Backgrounds are incredible, as an aside.
Spider-Man: Fever is fucking solid.
>>82005570
That's trippy for you?
>>82014825
I specifically chose one of the simpler pages as to not give spoilers.
