I'm just going to say it because apparently I'm the only person to think it. I'm glad Pyrrha died when and how she did. Pyrrha's development as a character was entirely developed in finding love and someone who accepted her for how she was. This was fulfilled in Jaune and their relationship. After accepting their love (which she did with the kiss) there was no-where left for her to grow without trowing in some meaningless device. If Jaune or someone else died, it A) wouldn't have been nearly as tragic, B) couldn't have shown just how strong Cinder is, C) would turn Pyrrha's only motivation into an angsty quest for vengeance. With Pyrrha dying as a completed character, it gives all the other characters motivation to move forward, improving their skill, motivates Jaune to become stronger and a better leader in general, doesn't take any character without HUGE room to grow in the series, and opens a spot in team JNPR for Penny 2.0 to join (I have theories about that, but they're very long and I'm already rambling). Pyrrha was the ONLY person who could have died at that point to have such an impact on the future of the series without removing continuously developing characters. I'm ready for the hate.

I guess, but I'm always gonna hate the episode more than even breach. Cinder stomped ozpin in the same time it took them to ride an elevator so it was unlikely she was heavily wounded. The only way Pyrrha would have a chance. Neither of them knew where Glynda, qrow and ironwood were and Pyrrha fighting cinder for less than the time of an elevator ride was gonna fix that. If she knows more about the whole the tower must not fall bullshit then it's another case of RT flubbing the narrative with shitty writing like they did with how much ruby cared about penny. The most Pyrrha should have done was hang around the perimeter to try and follow her if cinder came back down and tried to leave the place with only one entrance.

I don't know what interviews you've seen but for the most part people do take those comments seriously, even well after fight have ended. Things are usually typically mended in the aftermath but the grudge going on, especially on the part of the defeated man is common.
It's because while the meta of stuff like boxing is that it's the gentleman's sport, in really it's filled with crazy machismo filled guys, often from poor backgrounds who are going in there and beat the shit out of each other.
