>>
>>82021025
>They were always trying to shove in live action categories

Eh?
>>
Giant Days and Mouse Guard automatically deserve to win.
>>
>>82021077
I think it was for the 2014 awards when they tried pushing a category for /co/'s favorite non-/co/ movies.

Not adaptations of comics or cartoons, not tie-ins to /co/ material, just /co/ voting for any random movie whatsoever from the past year.
>>
>>82020925
>tfw I haven't read Forever Evil
I'm assuming this is some sort of joke and it's absolutely horrible?
>>
>>82021025
The organizer was a cartoon-fag who spent more time on the "Music in Animation" category than the comic categories. It's why Forever Evil won "Best Graphic Novel, Miniseries or Special Comic Book Series": they knew nothing about how to categorize comics, and so a cape event ended up competing with a bunch of better works.

>>82021056
I know that /co/'s turned on it, but /co/ still seems to vote in ways that surprise me. Slott's writing won back in 2011, after all.

>>82021077
They tried to make a "Best Movies of 2014" category last year. No, we're not talking about movies based on comics/cartoons; it was a flat out /tv/ category, in that it was about all movies, and the organizer got mad when everyone else got mad.
>>
>>82021183

it's a big dc crossover by David Finch and Johns about evil version of heroes showing up and only the bad guys can stop them.
>>
>>82021183
It's not absolutely horrible, but I wouldn't vote for it as The Best Graphic Novel of the Year.

And yet, enough people did that it won.
>>
>>82021183
See >>82021222

Forever Evil, in my view, is probably one of maybe three decent Big 2 events in the past half-decade, and it's entertaining enough, but it really didn't deserve to be "Best Graphic Novel." But since the process of voting made it essentially A) a popularity contest and B) utterly biased towards whatever the majority had bothered reading, it's no surprise it happened. The categories being shit was absolutely the reason behind it all.
>>
>>82021222
>>82021182
That's pretty hilariously transparent.

/tv/ really needs to fuck off already
>>
>>82021314
Yeah I'd blame it more on the voting process than the /co/ userbase to be honest.
>>
>>82021425
And I blame it more on an organizer who didn't seem to be able to constructively consult with comics readers. If you don't know the medium, just ask people who read it to explain how it should be done, and actually listen to their suggestions. Instead, we got Forever Evil as Best Graphic Novel, and stuff like Hellboy in Hell being disqualified because everyone was confused and voted it into a category it didn't belong in.
>>
>>82021425
I'm fine with blaming it on the /co/ userbase too.

Come one, /co/, read more OGNs already. Are we fans of the medium, or are we fans of a genre and a couple of publishers?
>>
>>82021222
>Slott's writing won back in 2011, after all.

>>
>>82006925
>Aaron
His work on Southern Bastards has been great.

>>
>>82002995
>Tony Sandoval
Nice to see his doing well.
>>
>>82021541
Eh, the /co/ userbase is like most of the North American, non-kid market, in that its most adventurous comic experience was reading that one Image comic that one time, and it was like, totally not Marvel or DC. Most competent awards/"best of" lists will recognize this, and at least set up a system where other works have their own categories that aren't as dominated by Big 2 popularity contests.
