Brian at his lowest, scummiest was when he wrote the self help book. Even after he is humiliated on national television on The Bill Mahr show by both Bill Mahr and Arriana Huffington, he still can't admit that he was wrong about anything, even when he's trying to make amends with Stewie. At least Stewie had the wear with all to be honest with him and tell him that he couldn't write for shit. Unfortunately, Brian never learns his lesson. This is most definitely Brian at his utmost douchiness.

Reminds me of one of the early episodes. The one with the mafia. That guy Peter had to take out for a night on the town gets shot to shit by a machinegun, but there was zero blood.
I blame the Patriots episode. That was the first episode with actual gore. Except it was actually pretty funny because at the time it was so shocking and unexpected. The show had never gone that far by that point in terms of sudden gratuitous violence. It was actually hilarious.
But then they took the wrong lesson from it. They decided "Violence equals comedy" instead of "Shocking the audience and breaking expectations is funny"
And so now its not funny anymore. Its just excessive.

I actually liked the real estate salesman Brian episode. Quagmire literally tells him he is only helping him because he hates his guts and doesn't want him in his bar weeping. Brian literally doesn't owe him shit, Quagmire never demands the money back, Brian gives it to him willingly.
Then he uses Quagmire's own ego against him to rip him off and sell him a shitty condo. No one deserves it more than the admitted rapist.
Brain the author is a better example because he isn't forced into the situation he finds himself in, it just happens.
