It's all quite funny really, for all that the writers like to boast, there isn't a single character in team RWBY aside from Ruby herself that can carry themselves as main character material. While I do find the members of JNPR to be more enjoyable to watch it isn't necessarily that. In the four seasons that we've all watched RWBY together I can't think of a point where any members of the RWBY team have been genuinely enthralling. I sort of regret the show establishing that advanced prosthetic limbs are a thing. Yang losing her arm is still a pretty big event, but much less of one.
Since her fighting style is much less viable now, I thought it'd be interesting to see her learn over time to rely more on kicks. Since RT said she has trouble fighting against them, it'd be cool to see her master her weakness.

RWBY has been all over the place in tone, pacing, narrative tools and other whatnots but the story they are trying to tell overall is something of a mishmash of magical girls, fates and destinies with a BBEG thrown
JNPR would not fit that due to mostly Jaune and the fact that JNPR is actually not all that cohesive narrative wise. He is after all the most well defined and honestly looks like he's from another genre.
Jaune as he is now can carry a story on his own. I honestly didn't think he could at first but as he is now he could but it wouldn't be RWBY. It'd be an odd fantasy story about a warband leader or a knight.
You may find JNPR more enthralling but it wouldn't be RWBY and I and most people here would prefer to watch RWBY with the team RWBY at the forefront.
And work, and a lot of it can be done there and is just waiting there for it to be done.

True, but keep in mind, only Atlas has demonstrated to have the tech for advanced prosthetics, and right now Atlas is sort of verboten among the other kingdoms at the moment with the whole HK bots going rogue and made to look like they were slaughtering Civvies. Prominant in appearance. Nora and Ren all but disappeared for the rest of Volume 1 after they formed teams, barely show up in 2, and are still mostly non existant in 3 up until the finale.
Pyrrha got more appearances than them but that was because she wasn't long for the series, and she still mostly revolved around Jaune until Vol 3.

Jaune is basically another main character archtype. The weakling over his head who becomes powerful. Vs the starts the story already really strong and with great plot power but is naive and too honest for their good which is what Ruby is.
That's why Jaune seems to have much more potential for growth than anyone from RWBY bar Ruby. They're supporting characters, while he's basically a lead character type who isn't the lead of this particular show.
