He asked for help, sit down with Barry and together work things out. Not for Barry to basically give him the answer in a patronizing type voice. "This is good, but let me show you how to make it better." Instead of "This is good, but what do you think needs to be done. I think that X could be looked at, have you thought about doing it Y? What do you think, Wally? I would do it Y, but how would you do Y?"
Plus Wally has daddy issues, here's this white boy who is basically his dad's favorite son. Yet he's not even related to him. He didn't know that Barry was basically adopted by Joe after his mom died until later. Also Barry told Joe & Iris that to stop giving him so much praise while around Wally.
I wonder if they'll deage Wally, because it'll be awkward to be called Kid Flash when you're barely 5-6 years younger at most than the regular Flash. Unless when he does go Speedster he'll be called Impulse.

Wally wanted criticism sure, but he also wanted Barry's help in solving things together. Instead Barry just tells him how to do it, not giving Wally a chance to figure it out on his own. There's criticism, which tells you how it is, which highlights an area. Then there's telling them what to do which is highlighting an area, crossing it out, and scribbling in the correct answer then handing it off like "I fixed it for you."

Fine. Even if Barry's criticism was excessive, Wally didnt need to match Barry's sperging with his own. The charitable reading of what Barry is saying is that he's providing an opposing viewpoint. You either engage in a dialogue on whether it actually improves your project or you accept that its fair critique.
Barry didn't insult Wally, his criticisms were relevant to the project. Wally didn't have to interpret it as a personal affront, he could have seen it as an opportunity to engage in discussion, like what actual academics do.
I'm not sure what happens in peer review, but in published reviews, it is common for reviewers to argue for a completely different set of ideas as a counter to the work that they're reviewing.

Also, people are really misunderstanding Wally. Like, it makes a lot of sense why Wally would be bitchy with Barry: even though he's the blood relative to Iris and Joe, he feels like a distant cousin to them, especially in comparison to golden boy Barry.
Plus, we've ONLY seen Wally in more-or-less hard situations. We're introduced to him when he knows full well that his mother is dying; after that, he has the pains of fitting into his newfound family and starting a life in Central City.
I think the key thing is that, even though he's been kind of annoying, he hasn't been pushed into areas where he has no real involvement. So, Wally isn't a part of every episode; as far as we can see, his doppelganger is not in Earth-2 Central City (although he might be); he doesn't stick his nose in the case-of-the-week business, Iris's journalistic duties, or Joe's cop stuff.
Similarly, the great moment between Barry, Eddie, and Iris in the previous episode wasn't spoiled by Wally in any way.
This is all in stark contrast to Felicity, who pretty much conjures up any excuse to bitch at Oliver and make everything revolve around her. In similar situation to the Barry-Eddie-Iris situation, they TOTALLY would have said, "Wow, their relationship is so solid and pure! It's just like how much Felicity loves Oliver!"
