So, was it good?
>>
>>81945841
RT tells me it's good so it must be. I'm unable to form my own opinions on things.
>>
Yes, if only for this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15rUJuKCM90
>>
>>81945841
it's alright kid's not that great but the rest of the cast make up for him
>>
>>81945841
Quite good. Excellent CGI, very nice voice acting, silly musical numbers without being obtrusive, edge of your seat tension, and what may be one of the greatest animal fight scenes in all of cinema.

Holy fuck I thought Khan was going to kill Bagheera. Good thing Raksha is fucking savage.
>>
>>81945841
Very good indeed.
>>
CGI shitstorm, trying to profit off nostalgia, Mowgli mumbles fucking everything

Actually fun, Walken Johansson and Murray all do great jobs, it's not even 2 hours long
>>
>>81946096
>one of the greatest animal fight scenes in all of cinema

Better than polar bears?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTjs5eo4BfI
>>
>>81947812
I said one of, but I'd probably say it was better than Polar Bears. Shere Khan going from bear to wolves to panther to wolves again is a sure fire way to keep an audience on the edge if their seat.
>>
Here's the real question:

Is it built on the Disney movie, or the book?
>>
>>81948961
Very loose adoption of the Disney animated movie.

>Johansson

Everyone was great except her as Kaa, she sounded so uninterested in her lines. Luckily, she was only there for one scene before getting mauled by Baloo.
>>
>>81945841
It's fantastic. Sheer-Khan is the best villain this year.
>>
>>81945894
Fuck. Gunna have to see this now.
>>
I thought it was the little things that really stood for me.

Mowgli is scarred during his adventure, as expected from fighting off a fucking tiger.
Sheer Khan's ferocity is downright impressive as others said.

Honestly i thought Bagheera was a bit plain and then he starts fighting with little regard for his life to protect Mowgli.

Cool movie. Needed more monkey mayhem though. And more Elephants.
>>
>>81949790
Well she's not a very good actress so that's not surprising.
>>
>>81945894
I thought they weren't gonna do it.
This is amazing.
>>
>>81945894
>>81950798
The original song coming out of nowhere during the new Disneyland fireworks show should have been a clue.
>>
Pretty dang good. Louie was great, and while her scene was short, Kaa made a pretty good impact as well. Murray did well as Baloo, Shere Kahn was scary.
8/10 movie.

This is a literary adaptation, not a comic or cartoon adaptation. It is off-topic on /co/.
>>
>>81951458
It's both. The fact that they used characters and songs that derive solely from the animated movie prove that.
>>
>>81949669
Neato.
>>
>>81951458

No, it's a live-action remake of the Animated Cartoon.

The characterization of the characters is take directly from the cartoon. In the book Kaa was Mowgli's mentor, Baloo was the wolf cub's teacher. Both characters in the movie are taken directly from the cartoon.
>>
>>81949790
>Everyone was great except her as Kaa, she sounded so uninterested in her lines.
Heard this sentiment exactly one other time a few hours ago in another thread.

Let me just throw out a guess that suddenly it's gonna be the thing everyone mentions as a negative toward the film from this point forward. It shall strangely become the most obvious thing.
>>
>>81951458
anything related to comics & cartoons is /co/ topic even if comics or cartoons weren't the original art material

thats why we discuss transformers here and not in /toy/
>>

Some of the visuals were nice, and walken was good, but the rest was quite bad
>>
>>81951811
What are you trying to get at, my new friend?
>>
>>81952078
That people on /co/ love to repeat others criticisms ad nauseum because despite being incapable of producing well thought out criticism of their own they are entirely capable of reading something someone else wrote and posting a version of that.

I don't think you actually understand what you're saying.
>>
>>81952202

They're his little baby trousers from when he was a toddler. There's a flash back where he's wearing them and they go down to his feet, but I guess he just kept wearing them as he got bigger.
>>
>>81952202
Why do bushmen who have never seen a white man wear Mickey Mouse tshirts? Merch has reach.
>>
>>81945841
I loved it but that's just my shitty opinion
>>
>>81952351
No I understand what i'm saying entirely. I'm not saying every repeated statement is bullshit parroting. but I heard this sentiment exactly one another time a very short time ago, in a thread bitching about that very thing. Before that nothing. I'm just saying I guarantee were going to see that coming up with more and more frequency in every future thread about this movie from this point on.

Not saying it wasn't a glaring flaw. I don't give a shit about that one way or the other. I'm just saying I think its a flaw (whether accurate or not) that'll be the go to for hating in Jungle book threads here on out.

Seems fairly cut and dry. Not sure whats confusing about it.
>>
>>81948961
More of a blend of both. Puts a lot more of "Mowgli's Brothers" into the narrative.

>>
>>81956418

She sounded calm and relaxing, as one should who is trying to hypnotize prey. Honestly, I feel kind of bad for her. They had her record the Trust In Me song, and played it in the credits, but in the movie she just kind of showed up to be exposition snake and then was gone. Why not put the song in the film proper?
>>
>>81952351
>Why was she even cast in that role?
Because thanks to the MCU she is now the hot stuff and everyone wants her for their Movies.

At least the Serkis version will have a proper actor, Cate Blanchett as Kaa.

well I mean that's what happened with the Martha thing in BvS. A bunch of retards acting like they didnt know there was more than just "our mothers have the same name so we're friends now". Perfectly good piece of cinema, critics gave it shit ratings because Robert Downey Jr. wasn't making a quip every 5 seconds and every one else wanted to feel like a critic so they came out saying how they hated it so much. Sorry to rant about bvs in a jungle book thread. But yeah I agree

In these sort of situations whichever movie comes out first will succeed.
That's basically a given.

Same with Olympus has fallen and White House Down.

The later was clearly the better movie, but the former came out first, grabbed all the boxoffice and got an even shittier sequel this year.

Even if Andy's adaptation is closer to the book and considered a masterpiece, it's bound to flop.

I'm curious why so many of you watched it. It's almost everything /co/ claims to hate: a needless live-action/CGI adaptation of /co/ material made literally just to bank on nostalgia, featuring a bunch of non-voice big name actors who are only in it for the paycheck and for you to recognize their very distinctive speech patterns.

Even if it's a good movie it's not something I want to encourage with my wallet.

Jungle Book hasn't been tapped for like 50 years aside from some unremarkable live action attempts in the 90's.

Sometimes a remake like 3:10 to Yuma doesn't bother anyone because the original had in fact slipped into memory for a lot of people.
