Ho do you guys feel about this considering what has happened with the new power puff girls so far? Do you think reboots are ever a good idea? What reboot do you think CN is gonna do next. If guaranteed it will be done correctly, which reboot would you like to see most?
NuPPG has nothing to do with the original creators, instead it's made by a bunch of new blood who has little tangible experience in the industry (which isn't always bad, sometimes new blood works out, but not this time). That's the difference. That's always the difference. You temper your expectations based on the creative team and though not everything he made is Samurai Jack, there's very little that Tartakovsky has made that I don't like.
Assuming, of course, he's legitimately in the lead creative position and is not just an executive producer or something whose name they're putting on the project to legitimize it. Information on the production is still pretty dark.

Totally different story. Samurai Jack is a continuation directed by the same guys who directed the first two seasons. The new PPG is more like a reboot with different artists and writers.

Don't remind me. I was genuinely looking forward to this but now, I'm not so sure.
People WILL shit on it through any angle they can possibly think of; updated visual sensibilites no connecting, digitally-produced background art, new Aku voice (obvious one), and a probable overdependence on callbacks and fan-pleasing.
I really only care about the last one, but in general, I look forward to it. If it turns out to be good, good; if it doesn't, nothing really changes about how I feel about the original.

Since this is Adult Swim funding, it's very likely it will be under 10 episodes. This revival was chosen to finish the story, so it's highly likely that everything is resolved with those 10 or so episodes

Based on what? Sure, VB has been 8-10 episodes recently, but that's more to do with the way they were telling the story than AS dicking them over budget-wise. Really, I could see it being a full on season, with some episodic episodes, and then the last few being full on plot to wrap up the story once and for all.

No, not compared to the art style from when Samurai Jack first aired--compared to the promotional image from when they first announced Samurai Jack was coming back.
It's a small change, but I really think it weakens the image. The wider, open eyes seemed more eerie to me, like the face on a stone idol. Changing them into "angry" eyes makes Aku look more like a doofy dude in a funny hat.

All the actors they've gotten for the game dubs up til now have SUCKED. I've heard a few solid ones on youtube, but there's probably not a chance in hell they'd even be considered.
Anyway, Genndy is still pretty sharp when it comes to Jack. He did a ton of alt covers for the comics when they were going.
If you watch any of his interviews at cons and stuff over the last several years, he mentions how fans always ask him about Jack and how he's always been waiting for things to work out just right--studios don't want to risk it, they don't want to do it in 2D animation, Genndy gets roped into another project, etc. He's committed to being able to deliver his vision, and it seems like Adult Swim is finally giving him the freedom to do his thing.
He also doesn't seem to have ANY frequent contact with fans. No twitter, no facebook, no instagram, nothing. I highly doubt he would ever pander to the fandom, or any group or trendy movement, at all.

Never know. They haven't said dick beyond "It's coming back", so we don't know if this is just a one-shot deal, or if they're gonna do something like toss out a bunch of episodes (with the finale already made and in waiting) and see if the ratings warrant more seasons.
I'm just really hope it goes somewhere.
We've been waiting for a conclusion to Samurai Jack for a decade (even though it had 4 seasons to finish a story and 4 seasons in a very generous run time for cartoons), and the meandering in Sym Bionic Titan got old.

Only real problem with the movie was how it basically conflicted with the one episode where Mojo had revealed his connection to the girls. As an origin, it was kind of fun, if a bit unnecessary since the series was largely episodic.

To be fair, even in the show they were never that deep. Mayor was always "lol, stupid but loveably caring man in charge", Mojo was "Overly serious villain who doesn't realize he's a blabbermouth." and so on. It was a fun enough show, but I can get why some people, myself included, never got into it like other CN shows. Still, it's a shame that the reboot pretty looks to be pissing on the good aspects of the show.

The salution is to write a huge movie plot that utilizes these characters well, they were deep enough to each be entertaining in their own rite. All the girls put together in the movie aren't even remotely interesting.
They needed a grand new story to tell in the same spirit of the cartoon, not a drab retelling of what we knew with some fluff added in.
