Kind of. It's sort of tongue-in-cheek about superheroes, or at least it starts that way. It gets a little deconstruction-y, but in the end, it loses those early elements that made it charming (albeit ultraviolent at times).
It pretty much gets mired in itself and goes into a tailspin. It's worth checking out the first quarter or third.

I'm 7 volumes in and it's been ace so far. It's pretty good having a cape comic that's not bogged down by continuity and 70+ year old characters.

I just finished the 8th volume and my only issue is that everything seems so inconsequential and there is a lack of urgency. To me, Invincible seems more like a slice of life than a cape comic which I really wasn't looking for. On that note, I might eventually drop it unless I can be otherwise reassured that shit actually changes.

Exactly my point. The purpose of the template isn't to say a comic was "great" or "10/10", but rather what the comic is actually about. You aren't really giving any actual information about the comic itself by saying it was good.

No that's a good explanation of it. A lot of things happen in Vince that would be an event comic in Marvel or DC but due to how it focuses on the main character without much else makes those big events feel small. I think it has a sorta weird place in capes comics, it takes the concept of Superman esque characters but instead of going into idealism or meta-context of the character (such as "Superman is the best of humanity" or "Batman is a one man war on crime") it ends up going with a very real feel of life and failure. Mark ISN'T the greatest hero, he's just the most powerful. The comic isn't really ABOUT superheroes or arcs but really just a story about growing up, responsibility, and failure.
The fact that Kirkman probably didn't write out all 120 issues beforehand for themes and arcs that does mean it kinda just meanders. I guess it works for me because that's basically life, it meanders.
