Yea it's an HBO family movie recording or something, amazing quality for what it's worth, and the logo doesn't take up much space, but >>81873242 the subs are annoying and the way they sorta flicker at times between changing the lines is more noticeable sometimes than the fact they're there.

Posted some screens of it in the newer PPG threads last week or the week before.

Personally I'd like Grim Adventures, or Invader Zim. Both had a nice style, Zim for it's amazing animation, and Grim to feel more a part of what's happening.

ZIM DVDs have about 480p to them like normal but it actually looks 720p at times.

Their CGI is amazing.

CN Germany broadcast S6 in 1080p (though clearly it wasn't animated with that resolution in mind).

There's a good amount of Chowder capped in 1080p in English as well, everything up to episode 49 minus a few. Here ya go:

Kim Possible S2 onward was produced in 1080p (though it's not sharp at all)

https://mega.nz/#F!A1gSVZgR!pwPrXbUXWPHn2KP1MnpFwA

SpongeBob S1 was released in 4:3 "1080p" with the original music tracks. Nothing beyond that though, and the quality bump isn't too noticeable, but they definitely remastered from the originals which is nice.

Where do these come from? Remastered bluray releases?
>>
>>81875943
There are 720p HDTV rips floating around.
>>
>>81876142
Master copies that the networks have. Some countries' networks like CN Germany will go through the effort of obtaining and prepping them for air, whereas the US doesn't seem to care (they're currently airing Baby Looney Toons which WAS produced in HD but they're airing it in SD)

>>81876203
Oh, you're totally right. My bad, I think Kametsu has a thread with links for S1.

I'm sticking around here, can't believe these things exist. I don't mind bad quality if it's normal but the fact these links have been around and 1080p has been accessible for awhile really makes me wonder what's going around.

>>
>>81876142
Please, none of this shit gets on bluray. They're usually from iTunes or TV broadcasts.
>>
>>81876293
Flapjack was aired in HD in the US, but it was early in CN HD's life so it didn't get properly capped :( There's some episodes in 720p HDTV but are in Portugese (surprised nobody's done an audio swap):
https://mega.nz/#F!QgdDHY5R!oVlMdx8eA4zRc6tPG57yQg
https://mega.nz/#F!s4lXhbIA!1i0R9MT3zWrkFCZkRzLMkw
https://mega.nz/#F!wg1XyZxZ!KhHJif2MuQdKOzASWq6YWQ

I know that there ARE some English CN US rips floating around (probably TrollHD releases on usenet or something), but not nearly enough.

As for Courage, I haven't seen any indication that it was produced in HD/16:9, so you're probably stuck with 480p.

I can barely find any translations, let alone a higher quality version. There was a Spanish-language group doing a sub many years back, and I was able to kinda get by on what spanish I learned in high school. I gave up learning Japanese.
>>
>>81876561
Nah, Kametsu's pretty much where all of the good stuff's happening. Look through the index sticky, sometimes threads aren't actually marked 1080p.
>>
>>81874443
>>81875073
Wow holy hell Grim looks great. I feel like CN aired some HD episodes back some time ago when it was a new thing, it looks like I've seen it in this resolution before. It's been awhile though. Still amazing.

Based on that Chowder picture they look sort like they didn't plan on 1080p releases either, but maybe it's just that scene. Currently downloading the last episode to watch.
>>
Count duckula and hong kong phooey.
>>
So a cartoon is either created in 480p of it's time, or 1080p, right?

480p is hand drawn on paper or something, while 1080p means it was on a tablet?
>>
>>81875276
I have some bootleg (mistakenly) Thailand dvds and the older seasons (school) look pretty damn HD. Not sure if it's 1080p but it might be.
>>
>>81877502
Pretty sure digital animation existed long before 1080p was the television standard.
>>
>>81877568
So then but yea, being produced in 1080p means it was by tablet right? Anything less quality produced had to be drawn on paper or some other kind of thing right? Surely tablet drawings and other stuff wasn't drawn in low quality.
>>
>>81877502
Up until around the beginning of this decade I think most TV shows were *composited* to a 480p resolution. That doesn't mean that it can't be remastered in a higher definition, but that would have to involve retrieving the original negatives, or rerendering it, depending if it was made digitally or shot on film.

ReBoot and Beast Wars.

Of course no HD render exists and remastering either series would require many hours of finding/converting the models/textures/etc, and re-framing the shots for the wider aspect raitio... But I'd pay lots of money for both on blu-ray.

Way back in the '50s the geniuses at RCA came up with a standard called NTSC. Color television broadcasts would contain 480 lines of horizontal data, which the tv would draw by interlacing the signal. The television's electron gun would draw 240 horizontal lines from the top to the bottom of the screen with blank even spaces between each line. On the next pass, it would draw 240 new lines from top to bottom where the blank spaces were on the previous pass. By alternating fields of data, tvs were able to show movement at a decent resolution, called 480i or standard definition, and this stuck around for about 50 years. VHS, laserdisc, early DVDs would display 480i.

In the late '90s, consumer display tech had advanced a lot and HD-ready sets were available that could draw 480 lines of data on a single pass, without interlacing. This was called progressive scan, and 480i would be replaced by 480p as a display standard. Eventually higher resolution progressive standards 720 and 1080p would become common, although 1080i is still used for US cable broadcasts.

It was short lived as hell but I remember thinking it was decent for it's run. Never really caught a lot of the episodes (the majority)

I've been bored for the past few weeks so I've just been finding stuff I haven't seen in awhile, looked for this show but only found horrible quality TV rips at like 240p or maybe 420p.

I'd like to know if 1080ps are around, it's not too old but it's right before you'd start saying a show is "newer" since it was late 2010-early 2011

Because a lot of people have bigger screens than what was intentionally to view in the first place. Factor in the normal screens already looking like shit with some episode's quality and it makes it hard to stand with some shows.

Grain and blur and all that has it's charm if you're a nostalgic type person, or atleast appreciate things for what they were, but seeing remastered or original source material quality for some old stuff is not a bad idea.

What's your point? People are wanting high definition NORMAL lines of these other shows. I'm pretty sure people are looking for higher quality for more than just sharper lines. Crisp coloring, somewhat better audio, and to top it off, you can actually make out some of the stuff in the background.
