What are some examples of shows or characters from shows becoming more cynical/mean-spirited as the shows goes on?

Steven Universe

Any of the characters you have in mind or just the whole show itself?
>>81865680
Both.

Examples?

>mean-spirited
Be OP this is 4chan not a hug box. So what if there's cynicism in a cartoon it breaks up the monotony. I can source Steven Universe as one such cartoon where the happiness feels can feel unnatural most of the time and everyone knows everybody; it's a world that wouldn't truly wouldn't exist.
People actually scorned me once for saying Lars was my favorite character.
Bloo turned into such a colossal ass so quickly I got whiplash

Mind telling me where I said there was anything wrong with mean-spiritedness? I'm looking for some examples where this happens.
Mean spirited/cynicism like anything else can either be a good thing or a bad thing. It depends on the show.

The Egg is one of the greatest cartoons released in the last 5 years
I love that Season 10 turned Timmy into a cynic rather than an asshole.
Actually, Timmy and Chloe sort of have a Gumball Darwin dynamic. And I like it.

jesus christ, literally triggered by OP
>>81869165
This I didnt like.

I'll never get why they changed him like that
where did this mean spirited meme start
>>81870524
It's just a generic criticism that kept getting used so much it descended into memery.
>>81870524
Your sister's ass.
>>81870466
Like >>81870428, I think it's just writers like putting a cynical asshole with street smarts and a smarter but more naiive friend together. Bloo/Mac, Gumball/Darwin/Timmy/Chloe....I'd sort of say Wander/Sylvia, but Sylvia is probably smarter.
>>81870524
Mr. Enter, I guess.
>>81870524
>>81870564
The criticism doesnt lose merit just because some people use it badly, retards
And someone isnt saying it's a bad thing just by mentioning it exists.
>>81870585
Well when its put like that they do balance each other out and set up for interesting plots/interactions
>>81870861
Exactly. I'm a bit more forgiving of stuff like that for that reason
>>81866984
Not so much cynical, but the tone changes and it's less fun more serious. Fits the shows progression though
>>81870524
Meme spirited
>>81875940
Eh, that doesn't seem cynical or mean-spirited. More dramatic would be the right word.
>>81865590
Family Guy
And thats honestly the hugest example I can think of
>>81877084
Especially since they made Meg into the show's personal punching bag. it seemed kind of sudden too. Like, oh that's the way things are now.
