Regarding Beast Machines TF cartoon, I wanna ask:
Was it a good idea for the main cast to never lighten up, even for a moment?
Also, did anyone else feel the show tried to cram many themes and tackle them in one push?
>>
Didn't even know there was a theme. Didn't Rhino-don get turned into a tank or something?

Seemed all over the place with random stranded in a tron-like planet survival.
>>
>>81858252
>Didn't even know there was a theme
two i think. nature vs machine and free will vs control. season 2 solved the former with balance iirc.
>Didn't Rhino-don get turned into a tank
close but yeah, it's tankor. imo they should build up on that instead and resolve optimus zen development and rattrap uselessness issue faster
>>
Free will is a myth, your brain has no more free will than the weather does.

I hated Beast Machines so much, I know it has one or two fans here and good for you, but good god it was so bad to me, especially considering it was a sequel to Beast Wars which I loved.

IIRC none of the show maximals toys were good and the most show accurate were oversized.

Yeah the universe Tankor colors are kinda ew, but on the upside you have the more show accurate Obsidian
>>
Should beastformers be given rights?
I mean in our functionalst society they can't provide much to the larger Cybertronian machine not to mention their alt modes represent the filthy organic heathens that we are so much above.

I suppose their could be some use for them in scientific experimentation or in the pits of Kaon. Give it some thought but it would be more prudent to thinning their numbers among our ranks.
>>
>>81866761
Yeah @ the snake, Night Viper. The other one I was thinking of is Battle Unicorn.

Although, I forgot about Snarl...I guess he's not too shabby in retrospect.

Heheh, yeah he is a pretty silly robot but I like the whole knight aesthetic he has goin on
>>
My friend recently showed me all of Wars and Machines. Wars was pretty fucking great but I found it really hard to give a fuck about Machines and frequently found myself zoning out.

>Transformers can multiclass
>Transformers can roll Druids and Shamans
Was pretty great
>>
>>81867320
They serve their purpose as mass produced soldiers that is what matters. So long as their function is fulfilled their is little issue with their robot mode.

Now say Thrust attempted to be a artisan, crafter or some other function requiring precision appendages or motor skills. First he would need to be brought in for Function Acceptance Therapy (FAT) performed by a certified therapist model. After the successful reforming Thrust would then return to his intended duty as a scout class soldier. If the FAT were to fail his parts would be repossessed by the local governing body and reused to assist in the construction of more synergistic bots.

It's not a sequel, it's a show that gets rid of all the awful parts of Beast Wars like fart jokes and unfunny slapstick and Waspinator.
>>
>>81875642
Yeah, it removes the humor (personally I don't get humor, I have asperger's syndrome and humor is something I do not understand) and adds good things like no guns (martial arts are better I took them my whole life I'm a blackbelt inspired by the Matrix by the way) and meditation (I find this to be very deep I am very into Eastern religion myself) and better designs (I draw furry art of Cheetor since he now has two furry forms it's better than robot stuff)
>>
>>81875848
Shitpost way of saying it aside, yes, you're right. Beast Machines is just better than Wars. The designs were stronger, the story more compelling and engaging, and the fights more interesting than Chest High Walls in the Savannah.

>>
>>81876298
Bayformers is far from the bottom of the barrel of Transformers media

That spot is reserved for any and all weebtrash, and Beast Machines, which is almost universally hated by toy collectors and Transformers cartoon fans for a very good reason.
>>
>>81876475
It's hated for no good reason. They just wanted more fart jokes.
>>
>>81876514
It's hated because the toyline was mostly awful, the plot was fucking stupid hippie crap, it totally removed itself from everything Transformers was prior, and the designs were fucking awful shit that didn't even look like robots

The Vehicons were the only good thing to come out of this show period, and they were basically wasted because they could have made good Decepticons in a real Transformers show.

The main problems were that pretty much all the cast became unlikable and that literally 50% of the first season was 'running away from Vehicons'.

The concept of removing free-will from people (or robots in this case) was a good one, but it was executed poorly by being a sequel, yet having little to no resemblance to its predecessor. Should have been a series on its own, disconnected from Beast Wars.

>>81887652
That Pretender to the Name? He was the single biggest disgrace ever to aspire to delusions of command. A reprehensible coward, he seldom led his troops in battle, instead affecting a buffoonish air of superiority. He was unable to keep order among his warriors by means other than dumb brute force, since he earned not one iota of their respect. Fancying himself to be clever and pulling all the strings behind the scenes, his brief career in fact flaunted some of the most blatant stupidity ever to be displayed in the Decepticon ranks.
>>
>>81887652
He took over Cybertron in Beast Machines. He lost the war in Beast Wars and then they decided he won off-screen at the start of Beast Machines.
>>
>>81887714
A. he was the same guy in Beast Machines...
B. he was a Predacon, not Decepticon

>>81887716
Dude I'm not gonna argue with one of the five Beast Machines enthusiasts on the planet, it butchered pretty much every character, if you grew up with it instead of Beast Wars so you just don't care then I can't blame you but I can't imagine anybody who liked Beast Wars then saw Beast Machines and liked the direction they took any of the characters in

Can't really blame Megatron for having a hard time keeping his troops in line. He himself was a rogue and gathered like-minded predacons... probably not the most loyal or competent bunch to start with. Gotta work with what you got.
>>
>>81890443
Predacon culture is the same as Decepticon culture, aka basically fight to survive and survival of the fittest...

Megatron will always accept soldiers who are willing to double cross him as long as he knows he's more powerful than them, probably even sees it as a sign of determination

No, but I enjoy it on its own merits when I don't think of it as a Beast Wars sequel.
The Vehicon designs are great, the Maximals - especially Primal - have grown on me, and the plot is pretty good, especially for being one of the most unique takes on Transformers.

Okay, wow, of all the responses to that post, I didn't expect anyone to take it SERIOUSLY.
Mind you, I didn't expect anyone to respond at all.
To clarify - nobody ever said "Real heroes don't use guns", Bob Budiansky was the original writer for the Marvel Transformers comics, Bob Skir was the BM writer who explained that he's not a fan of guns and that it was a personal choice to not have the BM characters use them, and, uh, the show's called Beast Machines, not Beasties Machines.
