Okay so i had a day to absorb this and finally collect my thoughts.
I think Act 7's problems weren't in content they were in delivery. Before the flash even hit we knew what was going to happen. John had conversations were he talked about winning the game and then going back to fight LE/calliborn. Calliborn had a whole bit where he talked about fighting the kids and trapping them in the juju. Vriska talked about how the juju contained souls of people who almost kicked calliborns ass. We all knew where this was going, the kids would win the game, retcon out, fight calliborn, get trapped in the juju, get released by vriska, kill lord English, and then retcon back in right where they left off, along with everyone else. The problem is that for some reason hussie decided to not show any of this. He had a nine minute animation to work with, why wouldn’t he just cut out ten seconds of the genesis frog scene and show a clip of jake hopesploding all over calliborn, or of the kids finally confronting Lord English, even if it was just a frame of them standing over his dead body or something. Homestuck has always been a comic that went into huge detail over everything and then right at the end he decides to cut all that out. I suppose the epilogue might fix this by showing the kids having talks about all this but its still all very offputting and not very homestuck like for an ending
