Act 6 from start to finish was the worst thing to happen to the comic. Act 5 had so much energy to it by the end, he could have used that to really power through a final act without the need to introduce any new characters, minus the cherubs.
Instead the story came to a screeching halt in order to introduce new characters and start their story and development from the beginning. Since we already knew how the game worked, the focus was entirely devoted to their lives and relationships, which just. Absolutely. Dragged.
The initial part of the story (Acts 1-5) were good because the story was intermixed with the character's development; we learned along with the characters how the universe worked and how much more went into its workings than meets the eye.
Act 6 was all relationship shit and characters getting developed in weird, unsatisfying, and, worst of all, boring ways.

I think the most annoying part was having five billion fucking characters. It would be amost impossible to have a satisfying character arc for any of them and the "plot" was always just weird random bullshit. I mean it was fine for being entertaining but people got so deep into the LORE and there was really almost zero there.
So that leaves you with the characters but when you have so fucking many how can you give a shit? Not only that, but a fuckton of multiple versions of each characters, people dying left and right but then coming right back or another version of them shows up. It's just hard to give a shit.

My criteria for dropping Homestuck way back during the wait for Cascade was Terezi, Karkat, and WV being dead. Technically he did I suppose? I kinda like to view it as a similar ''victory'' that Porky achieved in the end of Mother 3. Porky technically was kinda immortal with his time travel nonsense but it made him age quickly and had to be part of some artificial spider machine that sustained his life but in the end he put himself in the ''Absolutely Safe Capsule'' before the 4 heroes can truly defeat him. The capsule of course lives up to his name as being immune to anything making Porky completely protected and safe from harm however once inside he could never get out so he was pretty much completely trapped forever inside. In the end Porky may have actually got what he wanted just like Dr Andonut said in the end.
