I can see it. Follow a comic for 7 years (5 in my case), a comic characterized by excessive wordiness, interaction, and dialogue, and have an ending with no dialogue and next to no interaction. I'm not mad though. I'm just really sad. I'm banking on the epilogue providing a lot of dialogue to "make up" for this so to speak. Hussie used to say the ending had never changed since 2009. I think that's still true, and that's a huge part of why it was so empty and didn't answer anything.
It was just supposed to be the epic birth of a universe frog and the 4 kids living happily in Can Town in their new world. It wasn't conceived to support trolls and more kids. He refused to let it grow to suit the massive thing Homestuck became.
So we got a frog being born and a small sliver of the cast getting a happy ending, and he just left everything else behind completely.

Well, I tell you what. Hussie managed to inspire me to properly get down to my writing, if only to show the useless fucking hack how it is done.
All great artists use emotion in their work, well mine will be unyielding rage and endless frustration. I'm going to be huge, Terry Pratchett huge. I'm going to amass a fanbase around the world, and maybe, just maybe, hook Hussie himself on my potent imaginarium. Perhaps he might see a glimmer of his own spark as his fingers trace the paper edges of the physical manifestation of the rage he caused. I'll wait until he's burned out, a wreck, and turn up one day with the offer of financing Homestuck, the theatrical production, using cutting edge AR technology, broadcasting it on the internet or whatever the fuck we have by then. I'll allow him to direct at first, but as he struggles to control a dynamic group of performers, I'll step in, loyal and earnest, restricting the actors' narcissism and inanity, disciplining the troops that I have marshalled to put forth my grand plan. And slowly, he'll cede authority over the revival of his great work to me.
And finally, as the curtain draws back, the play will begin. It will last days, with the intermission providing a useful opportunity to sleep for my actors. And they will put forward the most incredible piece of performance art ever known.
And as Collide comes to a close, the Condense lies slain, the curtain will close, and after a few minutes reopen. The actors will silently strafe cross the stage. They will wear Sandwich boards, grubby and low-tech. On each board will be a letter.

As for the rest, Caliborn's story had the best lessons. He accepted his mistakes and always moved forward the best he could, always strived to better himself no matter how difficult, and never gave up. He didn't undo things, redo them, or anything. Caliborn lived a life doing what he loved, and he did so without regret.
He wasn't perfect. He wasn't the strongest, brightest, or most talented fellow, but he tried his best and made things work.
There's only one character I came out of this story admiring, and it's that skullfucker right there.

Lord English definitely gets defeated. His eyes settle on 8-balls, he's standing before a giant hole in space. The 8 ball is the last one you sink in pool to win. We don't see him defeated, but they're STRONGLY implying the 8-ball is gonna get sunk into that black hole. Given his whole deal is a pool metaphor, this is pretty clear.
Terezi is most likely in the new universe. We don't see her there, but there's no reason she wouldn't have gone with the rest of the kids.
Vriska is most likely dead again. This would give her arc some closure (again), since she finally does become the big damn hero but has to sacrifice herself to do it.
Gamzee is still stuck in a fridge on one of the planets (which the kids took with them to the new universe). And he can't die because you can't keep a clown down.

It was a public beta, so a lot of people DID get it. We saw all that in act 1. It was just that most/all people who played it died before they actually got to The Medium. For all we know, there could have been another set of kids playing SBURB that DID make it in. However, even if they did they'd die anyways because of the corrupted copy of the game Earth's universe was running.
