New thread for the evening shift.
Next update; RoButler comes in guns blazing!
Sounds like it's still alive.
Bets on the species of the baby? I'm guessing something that breathes water.
>>81783682
Lyn would look shocked but not Wally if it was still alive. That's a dead baby face.
>>81783463
See, this is what happens when you drink while pregnant.
>>81783788
I don't think Wally's seen over the edge of the tub yet, though.

I know, right? It's like Aaron thinks we've never seen this before or something.
I feel like it must be A) alive and B) appealing enough for Holly to have gotten sufficiently attached to it that losing it is still messing with her six years later.
Unless it's a fragment of "I" and she's... imprinted on it due to its powers, or something.
>>81784299
It's most likely an abomination and Holly is only going on her maternal instincts, despite it being a freak of nature. Also she may or may not be schisming at the moment.
>>81784485
Could have something to do with the alcohol, though I would have thought it would have passed out of her and the fetus' joint blood system by now.
D'you think she simply blanks out when she tries to remember what it looked like in the modern era, and remembering that it was actually a ghastly abomination will set her on the road to recovery?
>>81783463
So thanks to the last thread, I started reading this. I'm at the point where Al and Gustine are being interrogated because everyone thinks they tried to sell out Endtown to the topsiders.
What in the holy fuck have I gotten myself into, this shit got dark so fucking fast with that whole Sparkplug thing back in the city. Am I right in assuming I having seen shit yet?
>>81784299
Or maybe the mutilated lump of human that was all that was left of Clive bore a striking resemblance to her own baby, hence her sudden fixation on him.
>>81784611
Oh, wait, it could work if she's drunk-but-asleep and the baby is drunk-but-awake, couldn't it? In which case she'd end up with something like Cooper.
Or the alcohol could be a red herring, it passed out of her system, and the baby could potentially be awake in her womb while she's sleeping and mutated into a true eldritch horror.
>>81784611
That's a loaded question we currently cannot answer. We know her baby is in the tub, but we don't know what it looks like. For all we know it's an aquatic mutant. Worst case it's a fucked up mutant with a face only a Holly could love. We'll just have to wait for Friday's update.
>>81784659
You've only just begun on Aaron's never ending wild ride. Grab a waifu, and hold on tight. She'll be the only ray of sunshine you'll get in Endtown.till she is killed off
>>81784715

the baby died in that bed.

No, Friday we get Lyn's reaction.
Remember, he's in shock and may
not just accept this giant rat's word
that she's his wife.
>>81784940
1. Birth is bloody
2. Birthing something equal your size is REALLY bloody
>>81784980
>Aaron keeps teasing the tub reveal for three weeks
>Every time we think we're gonna get to see inside, we focus on something else
>Eventually focused entirely on interaction between Lyn and his new mousewife
>Everyone leaves the room
>We never see into the tub
>>81784980
But is he the real Lyn? Is this Lyn able to see Wally and share their reaction. Fucking A' the weekend could not come any goddamn faster...
>>81784914
She'll be joining Allie and Ethel at the party cart in the afterlife soon enough.
>>81784783
[Roundabout starts to play]
>>81785053
If it was equal to her size and didn't shrink with her, she'd likely be dead, unlessher womb literally burst open while mutating and the healing element of the mutation is just so damn efficient that it patched her up before she could bleed out.

In the Netherlands we have a tradition called "Beschuit met muisjes" which is toast with a type of spread which when literally translated in English means 'mice'. "Toast with mice" so to speak. Pink for a girl, blue for a boy.
So, what gender is our baby? Let me guess...giiiiiiiirl?
>>81783463
Could there be a double meaning with "you're a father..." And having both Lyn and Wally in the shot? Or am I just looking too deeply in Aaron's bloody bathtub?
Im not sure I understand the mutations going on here, why do only individuals seem to be getting the virus somehow?
Are they being targeted?
>>81786915
Ooh, that would be pretty bad wouldn't it?
Present-Holly's pregnant with Wally's kid, turns out she's not barren. But him and Kirbee had a really passionate moment earlier, and both don't know what to do or think
>>81787227
>yfw Robo butlers are being controlled remotely and are infecting selected individuals with the virus via gas to test out the virus' effects on humans. Only to dispose of the evidence if things get out of hand.
>>81787227
There's definitely a lot more to the virus than just what we've seen so far.
Could be Holly & Lyn have been carrying it since their first mutant encounter, only the incubation period hasn't been as instantaneous as we've observed later. Lower concentrations, different immune systems, etc. Plus all the paranormal aspects of it, of course.
>>81783463
Poor Holly.
>>81787825
She killed Ethel. She deserved this.
>>81784659
I remember my first time reading Endtown through and through.
It was so fucking weird how it can go from horrible drama to comedy and back every other page.
At first I really thought it was shit because of this but now I'm charmed by it.
>>81788031
not exactly the only thing she did...
>>81783788
Maybe he's just shocked to see her covered in blood like that.
>>81786915
The fact that she miscarriedor once if she drowned this babytwice is probably one of the reasons behind Holly losing it, but since it's only Lyn in the bottom two panels and she seems to be looking directly at him while speaking, I suppose it's a relatively accurate recollection of past events.
>>81786915
>Or am I just looking too deeply in Aaron's bloody bathtub?
Wally, Lyn and Holly all can't seem to stop looking at it either.
It's a really great tub.
what the fuck is this? can i get a summary
>>81788031
>snake will never adventure with her mutant friends
bye snek
>>81788031
Aaron made a point of having four different characters drive the point home that buddybombs arm themselves, no moral high or low ground. Holly is no angel, but the whole arc is basically arguing from two sides.
Yo.
What the fuck is this comic?

>trusting snakes
>>81788246
>>81788213
Just read it ya fools. Post apocalyptic world where humans are turned into furries or abominations due to a virus that started WW3. So far 99% of people who read it got hooked.
>>81788345
I have a little trouble being able to read the small text in the comic...

Forgot to mention the nazi-like humans who's sole purpose is to be rid of anything and anyone contaminated by the virus.
>>81786323
I shouldn't have taken this commission but I was a little short...
>>81788345
i was reading this and why is she a woman one strip then a mouse the other?
>>81788233
She still made the decision to carry the things around with her, even disregarding the voice of reason telling her not to. She was being willfully reckless and admitted as much.
>>81788496
I love it.
>>81788345
how come the character in the op is a human at first but suddenly turns into an animal?
>>81788510
we're currently going through a sort-of-flashback
>>81788544
Her voice of reason was "strange voice claiming to be my friend is asking me, a pregnant woman, to show up at her house alone instead of emergency services."
and the fact that the only reason Holly was living there in the first place was because she had run into a toothy horror the size of a car. She did not know what to expect, but when something like that is real, sky is the limit.
It would cost me thousands in my country, but if I nearly ran into a velociraptor on my way home one night, I'd buy a gun and every bullet in the shop.
>>81788510
She mutated.
>>81788510
>>81788619
Long story short
>flashback where key events are being shown to Wally, Kirbee, and chic (cat, lizard, bird boy) by microscopic beings called "dittos" who have the power to manipulate their surroundings (and in this case, time and space)
So you just witnessed a jump from when she was human to when she mutated.
>>81788897
To add on, it would just be easier to read through. It'll only take a few hours. But once you hit a certain point in the first arc, o guarantee you won't want to stop.
>>81783463
Well, at least she didn't say "You WERE a father."
>>81789049
I dunno, seeing how she drank before mutating... maybe WERE would be better.
>>81788786
I was referring to Lyn being the voice of reason, not Ethel. He'd clearly tried to get her not to carry explosives around as a self-defense weapon, but she ignored him.
And he'd had an even closer encounter with the monster, but was still sensible enough to realize the buddibombs were a terrible idea. Buy a gun, sure, not a box of grenades.
>>81789246
>too damn sane
this writing omg
>>81789246
>Buy a gun
>holly would have riddled ethel with holes instead
>would have killed ethel's husband to remove the witness
there's no ending to the holly murder ride.

Question about the setting: Is the "virus" meant to be a world-wide phenomenon? From what I understand the plot hasn't really ventured past the Endtown/Hillside area, and what I've read seems to imply these Apex dudes based specifically in Hillside are responsible for it.
Then again I'm running under the assumption that this is our Earth, since they refer to World War 3.

doesn't it bother anyone else that Kirbee doesn't seem bothered by anything at all? It's like she is disconnected from reality. That can't be a good sign judging by the rest of the characters in this comic.

She wouldn't be the first. Not everyone wants to accept the horrible reality they're stuck in, though she does seem to have an extra helping of optimism/gullibility.
How people cope with their new horrible lives (and horrible pasts, which are almost a given for anyone who survives) is a bit of a running theme. It just means Kirbee has further to fall when something finally does break her.

So I might have skimmed some stuff: who's Clive, exactly? I know he's a brain in a box who Holly has gotten attached to... is there anything that makes him special? Did she know him like Flask did Petey?
>>81796826
Unlike petey, clive was probably just some random plastic brain that holly imprinted upon.
>>81793082
>Disconnected from reality
I honestly don't think this is the case, the reason why kirbee seems to be so detached from the colony's demise, is because she genuinely believes she is better off with wally and co, specially how they saved her life at the end by dragging her body out of the fire, she obviously wasn't really appreciated in the colony, so unlike chic, she has no one to mourn for. She's traveling with the only guy who has probably given her any affection in a long fucking time, and seems to be perfectly fine with it.
Regardless of the wafufaggotry, >>81793158 has a point, in those panels she is obviously mortified about what is happening to holly right now, so saying that nothing bother's her is a completely false claim.
>>81796826
Clive is the transporter that Holly, Wally, Jim, and Sarah use to escape Albion West. This is their only conversation before he gets busted on their arrival in Unity.
>>81797399
Reading that conversation again you can see why she get attached to Clive
For all we know, Clive might have been perfectly unconcerned about his apparent fate of getting destroyed at Unity, but Holly has a hard time accepting this. Holly saw him as more human than he saw himself, basically.
>>81796988
>nothing bother's her is a completely false claim.
she gets over stuff fast. Like her entire colony being slaughtered in front of her, or nearly being choked to death.
>>81797543
Good to know disembodied brains can still make use of false equivalence.
>>81796988
I dunno man, she seemed to be pretty gullible...
innocent or not, she is an Endtown character. See OP pic for what happens to Endtown characters.
>>81797991
>Like her entire colony being slaughtered in front of her
Chic went through the exact same traumas as kirbee, he also completely lost his parents and brothers, not to mention he almost got killed by jim. yet he still hasn't mourned for his parents or shown any emotion for his lost home... i don't see people calling him detached or mongoloid for this, i don't claim this is the case though.
Keep in mind that only around 4 days have passed since unity's demise, and a lot of fucking shit has happened in this short period of time. none have had time to grieve...
>>81798045
>innocent or not, she is an Endtown character. See OP pic for what happens to Endtown characters.
and like an endtown character she has been hit by tragedy, and will get hit again.
we dont know much about her past, but from what i can gather from a couple email exchanges i had with Aaron, i strongly believe that kirbee was an orphan with a troubled childhood, he hasn't confirmed or denied this, i'm completely speculating at this point. we will see if i was right once we get to her backstory.
>>81798280
isn't he like, 5?
He hasn't had the chance to develop feelings for his family, much less his colony. He was hidden from his brothers and sister by a brick wall and watched them play while he lived in the dark. The only lizard implied to give a damn about him was his mother, the rest beat and abused him.
At that age, kids will detach from emotions and you get stunted emotional growth after that level of abuse. Not to say he isn't feeling them, he just buries them.speaking from experience here, worked with troubled kids.
>>81796871
chez bludz
>>81798592
Doesn't Aaron say the he is actually 14?
But i think he just hated his family, execp of his mother he never knew or cared for any of his brothers and sisters plus that his father forced him to live in the walls, even if he had 5 years It'd be enough to made him resentful of his family

I don't know, Kirbee seems incapable of anger. She's either retarded, a sociopath, or somehow been through something worse than the apocalypse.
What does Wally's voice sound like?
>>81800298
>she had reason to run in and save people
doesn't necessarily means she was close to any of them, she was just trying to help like any rational person would.
>Kind of like how she's cool with Jim dying
she was a single gag character at that point, it was a couple strips later when Aaron decided to keep her as a "main" character if you will... besides jim was an actual threat unlike wally.

>>81800670
>"Nothing she said or did was canon until a certain point, guys!"
oh please, i didn't claim that what she did is not canon, however he initial disregard for jim's life could be attributed to the fact that she was not supposed to appear in the comic ever again after plugin the holes in wally's cell...

You are the ones sending Aaron love letters addressed to Kirbee?
>>81801080
The only problem is that she didn't know of his existence until she found him with Holly in the tunnels
>>81801302
more like kirbee didn't actually existed until she introduced herself to wally, the problem comes down to her being an improvised character of some sort, i'm pretty sure if Aaron would have planned kirbee before hand she would have tried to protect him, even give him food through the holes in the walls.
>>81801419

I think the only thing that could possibly put Marx on the road to likeability is a dire fucking over, yeah. Like they get back to Endtown and it's in utter chaos, and they find Marx huddled in a corner somewhere rocking back and forth muttering "It wasn't supposed to be like this... It wasn't supposed to BE LIKE THIS!"
You know, show that he's actually fallible instead of fucking Q on a sugar high.
But Aaron won't do that because he's too attached to the idea of Marx being his "Tom Bombadil Character".
>>81804394
>Like they get back to Endtown and it's in utter chaos
problem is, when we get back to endtown is not going to be utter chaos like most people assume, it's not going to change much, at least not for the first couple of months.

I was wondering the same thing about Holly, and how I can't help imagining her voice sounding like the Caramella girls.
... and now I feel like someone needs to do a gif of Holly doing the Caramelldansen.

It's going to seem totally normal and even pleasant after the wastes, and Jackrabbit will have won, and he seems to be a good leader... and then they find the human detention camps and a mass grave.

Jesus.
Was the author beaten and raped every day as a child to make such unrelentingly nihilistic stuff on a regular basis?
Having some drama is one thing, but this is like some singularity from which no joy can ever escape.

All this comic is is just suffering, suffering and even MORE suffering. It just doesn't STOP.

Somewhere, someone wants to stick their dick in that spider.
Might not be in this thread. Might not be on this board. But someone out there will want to fuck that spider.
Oh god...
I can already see it...

There's going to be athrowing the baby out with the bathwater joke.

Not even gay, but I can agree with that.
Pete is a cute spider.
>>81808949
It's hitting what TV Tropes calls "Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy", if the off-colour jokes around here in response to current events are anything to go by.
Of course, it could just be that most people here have binged the majority of the comic and are thus used to moving through the dark bits at their own pace, but now, having caught up, they're having to deal with the tension of the comic's schedule.

Someone should tell Aaron that there's a reason Tolkein made Bombadil either a largely "hands-off" character or depicted his adventures as mythic, depending on the work.
Even in his only poem definitively set in Middle Earth, all he basically uses his powers for is to have a party in Hobbiton and then score a free ride home.
Am I gonna see God mommy?
Am I gonna die?

Come to think of it, Endtown is pretty much a webcomic version of Goodbye Blue Sky:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kGOAWnvyWA
>>81808949
It has been a long time since anything good has happened, but Endtown isn't nihilistic, at all. We're not just watching them suffer for no reason.
Alive or not, if she didn't kill it herself (and if she were going to you'd think she'd just smother it with the pillow) then that is a hell of a lot of blood from the mother. She must be shredded inside. I bet that's why she's so fixated - she can't have another real child of her own, only substitutes.
>>81806819
He's seen a Shoggoth, not an animal mutation and would have no reason to believe that this is his waifu.
Holly is kinda adorable in that third panel.
>>81814065
He was already more receptive to the idea that the mutants were once people than Holly was, so I doubt he'll be hard to convince.

>>81816005
>It's for effect but Aaron must sweat when nervous and is projecting.
Speaking of projecting, is the tendency for everyone to call everyone else "kid" in this comic an intentional depiction of the local dialect, or is it a verbal tic that Aaron has that ended up in the comic's dialogue?
>>81816338
I only recall that being a problem with Wally, who was called a kid for no reason. With the doc it is understandable because he's old and wise but it didn't make sense coming from AL of all people.
>>81816323
"Jesus" with a suggestion of the local accent.
>>81815927
So now she's seeing it, and she'll soon be believing it... and soon after that she'll be a tool for the real terrorists (Apex).
>>81815976
Allow me to blend the creepy with some cute, as requested in the previous thread.
>>81816505
She already saw it with Ethel. Though it's impossible to tell whether she believed it then, since she mostly screamed and ran away. And hasn't said much since.
>>81816685
Yeah, she might still have been thinking someone grew the wigsnek in a tank somewhere. Though probably not now, or even after she'd laid on the bed to think for a bit...
>>81816735
There's still killing Ethel's husband in the collateral damage for her to feel guilty about. Whether she believed the snake was Ethel or a dangerous mutant, she's likely aware by now that she's still killed someone.
The police in >>81783792 don't mention the husband being missing, and anyone who saw Holly leave before the explosion would have seen him entering.
It's possible Aaron will leave it ambiguous, since Holly and Lyn have slightly bigger things to worry about now.
>>81814853
I just realised who she reminds me of: Kira, from the dark crystal, post-capture, when she's all gaunt and dishevelled-looking.
>>81808949
Actually I find Endtown one of the most idealistics comic out there... because A) 'Even the villains have positives traits and could become good people if not for circustances' and B) 'The heroes keep doing the right thing even through the universe likes to screw them over.'
>>81818306
And do you remember that naive drivel that Al was spouting about community-run government at the end of the "animal lives matter" fiasco? Who I can't help but feel is in at least some way a mouth piece. What an optimistic nutter. It would have been more adorable if it didn't sound so Marxist.
>>81818446
Well, what do you expect from a guy who named his self-insert "Aaron Marx".
Yeah, that whole sequence was a bit soapbox-ish.

Have some Jim I've done with pencils. Had to pull out my sketchbook due to a problem
And I'm fucking livid right now cause I had to not only spend a most of the day without electricity due to the power company booking shit wrongly and causing them to cut it. On top of that I had to quickly pay the current bill ($110) + $30 reconnection fee. Wonderful, good thing I could borrow it. But have some nice art at least.
