Can we get a thread with interesting or obscure facts about comic characters?
I love these kind of tidbits.
>Dustin Weaver, who wrote and illustrated an Edge of Spiderverse issue, was heavily inspired by 70's Japanese TV shows as far as his character's wardrobe, decore, and even car choice
>His design of Spiderman's suit in this issue was also influenced by a combination of Megaman, Kamen Rider, and Power Rangers.
>He also slipped in several nods to the band The Protomen in his issue, having characters say lines from their songs almost word for word.
And yet it STILL somehow managed to be a boring as fuck issue. Fancy that.
In Edge of SPiderverse #5 theres a lot references to anime's like akira and ghost in the shell. Not as well known is that the subway was drawn to look like toronto's TTC system. Also miss marvel can be seen in the background of one page
>Protomen quotes
Oh he's one of those. No thanks.

This is the TTC for comparison
"(Frank) Miller had also drawn the covers for the first twelve issues of First Comics English language reprints of Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima's Lone Wolf and Cub, as well as authoring the lyrics for Ninja Rap from the second Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie featuring Vanilla Ice. This helped bring Japanese manga to a wider Western audience."

Yo, it's the green machine
Gonna rock the town without being' seen
Have you ever seen a turtle get down?
Slammin' and jammin' to the new swing sound
Yeah, everybody let's move
Vanilla is here with the new jack groove
Gonna rock, and roll the place
With the power of the Ninja Turtle bass
Iceman, ya know I'm not playin'
Devastate the show while the turtles are sayin'
Ninja, Ninja rap, Ninja, Ninja, rap, Ninja, Ninja rap
Go, go, go, go
Go Ninja, go Ninja go, go Ninja, go Ninja go
Go Ninja, go Ninja go, go Ninja, go Ninja go
Go, go, go, go
Lyrics, fill in the gap
Drop that bass and get the Ninja rap
Just feel it, if you know what I mean
Give it up for those heroes in green
Just flowin', smooth with the power
Kickin' it up, hour after hour
'Cause in this life there's only one winner
You better aim straight so you can hit the center
In it to win it, with a team of four
Ninja Turtles that you gotta adore, it's
Ninja, Ninja rap, Ninja, Ninja rap, Ninja, Ninja rap
Go, go, go, go
Go Ninja, go Ninja go, go Ninja, go Ninja go
Go Ninja, go Ninja go, go Ninja, go Ninja go
Go, go, go, go
Villians, you better run and hide
Because one day you might not slide
So choose your weapon, don't slip
Vanilla's in control with the flex of the mic grip
Rockin' the crowd, the way it should be rocked
With the Miami drop that you like a lot
Hittin' like a Ninja Turtle when the bass kicks in
You better check your level
The power of the Ninja is strong
Fightin' all the crooks until they're all o' gone
Ninja, Ninja rap, Ninja, Ninja rap, Ninja, Ninja rap
Go, go, go, go
Go Ninja, go Ninja go, go Ninja, go Ninja go
Go Ninja, go Ninja go, go Ninja, go Ninja go
Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go
Ninja, Ninja rap, Ninja, Ninja rap, Ninja, Ninja rap
Go, go, go, go
Go Ninja, go Ninja go, go Ninja, go Ninja go
Go Ninja, go Ninja go, go Ninja, go Ninja go
Go, go, go, go
Out with the Gladiator, baby

Weebs need to stay out of Western comics. This is America, goddammit.

nah, I'm almost 30 now and when i was 12-17 i was a total weeb. I matured but those influences are still there. Most guys my age watched DBZ, Naruto, Inuyasha etc. It's bound the get blended in.
Think back to 2004. There wasnt a lot of western comic media on tv. Sure we had some movies but none were all that great. Static Shock is probably the only good cape show I remember from that time.
