Kate was literally a nobody barrista, but through networking, kate or die, founding the Valkyries etc ahe basically worked her way up to shitty liscened comics for Boom, the worst paying company ever, then just work her way up from shit gig to shit gig until she finally became a big 2 writer for a z lister.
Its the same basic path most guys took, even Morrison and such, start small and worm your way up.
Hell a lot of industries are like that.
Honestly navigating that clusterfuck is a lot harder than just having talent or good ideas. I am sure tons of us folk have great ideas or talent, Ive met people like that, talent is easy. Thats something you just have? But work? A job? A carrer? Sirtting down for hours every day cranking out something no matter how much you dont feel like it? Talking finagling, shilling? Leg work, adwork, outreach? That massive cluster fuck of politcs and nepotism and total bullshit? Building that from nothing? That's something that I respect, no matter how much of a total piece of shit she is in every other part of her miserable life Kate did what I, and many of us dream of every day while still beeing just as much, if not more of a loser than I am.
