Okay so everyone seems to be bitching about will smith not being deadshot.
So what is deadshot?
I dig the character from what i've read of Suicide Squad and Secret Six. My takeaway from him is hes a cynical and fatalistic guy who gives no shits about any broader goals beyond performing the job he was hired to do. He always seemed a bit 'eh fuck this world' (hence the fatalism) and prone to testing people who might kill him.
So nothing i've seen in this trailer really speaks against that. He seems to resemble a guy who is unhappy with life in general but is still a sneering prick has that 'fuck the authority' thing going for him to some degree. I mean he isn't blindly throwing himself into situations to get himself killed in the trailer but i dont see how that'd really make much sense in the context of the story anyway.

It's the initial assumption. They know now he had nothing to do with it but those first few hours of pants shitting horror they were going through prompted them to consider their options if he really did do it.

What I find wrong about Deadshot is that he actually wasn't intentionally funny at all, he was very strightforwaed forward and guarded individual, he's one of the only prisoners that actually wants to be on the team because there is a high chance that he could finally die and not have to live with the fact that he has a young daughter out in the world that he's failing to raise and protect.
This dated, hip, from the block Lawton we're getting just seems weird man, I see him and I don't see Deadshot, I see Will Smith, and the thing is, he's a good enough actor to bring the kind of emotional depth that Deadshot actually has, but all we've seen so far is just Will being himself.
I dunno man, I want this to be good, but I just don't know.
But the only thing he's known for is good at shooting things.

Maybe i'm painted from reading secret six as well as more recent incarnations of the Suicide Squad. But honestly he never seemed like the kind of guy who wouldn't crack a joke.
He wasn't a joker but he had the occasional cynical bit of wit to him. And honestly in most of the trailers they've shown hes made what...maybe two vaguely comedic remarks. I feel people are honestly fixated on the fact the he is Will Smith rather than the way he is shown acting in these trailers. Cos in most of them he looks vaguely grim and unpleasant.
