They have a tendency to put an ugly shine effect on things, they fucked up Shredder and they can be pretty inconsistent and make some other bad choices. And this one is nitpicky but I'm not a fan of how light the turtles pads are.

I would probably suggest the black and white hardcover. Like it was supposed to be read. But it does work, it just could have been way better. I mean I guess it's the best alternative if you want color since the older ones aren't as easy to get a hold of. And they vary a lot in quality too.

I hated that IDW only put out the Mirage stuff in those giant hardcovers with no cheaper alternative.
It would have been nice if they also released some 4 issue tpb for them like they are doing with the Tom Waltz comic.

They released them as individual comics as well. They were difficult to find though. My comic shop still has a few issues of "City at War" arc out

My only beefs with the black and white hard covers are: 1) you can't see the edges of the pages they way that the books are bound and 2)they are not printed in the US
But as an oldfag, i'm excited to get most of the good issues of the series at a reasonable price.

Too bad they're in color. Those are some superior covers to the ultimate editions. But why's the first one white instead of plain cardboard? Need another white one or so to balance it out.

This is the one I own, and it is like a cardboard cover. Front and back are stylized like a pizza box basically.
Got it signed by Eastman, he says he likes the colored editions.
Why don't they just make an omnibus?
