The Lisa episode tonight is honest to God written by one of the members of the original season 1-4 writing staff. He last wrote an episode for the show in fucking 1993.
But, of course, The Simpsons being what it is, every script, even those made by writers outside the current crew, is still edited by the room as a whole and will probably bear little resemblance to whatever was originally written.
Prepare for disappointment.

The ONLY thing I'd change about the show is making Mat Selman take over as showrunner in Season 20. His episodes are consistently better than Al Jean's.

It is the easiest show to write for.
Two basic plots are supposedly poor family buys something expensive only to throw it away/ruin it by the end of episode or weirdo character leads to wackiness. Fill in 21 minutes with obvious dick/shit jokes and you have an episode.
The only good thing is that no one is watching. It got fewer viewers at 9pm than it did at 7.30.
