Dude, the team was deliberately created as a parody. It wasn't SUPPOSED to be inventive or unique, that was the point.
DC did the same thing awhile later, though their parodies were much less long-lasting because the Avengers wouldn't be cool or particularly famous as character for another thirty-odd years so they never stuck around like the Squadron Supreme did.

its was a semi official team swap between Marvel and Dc a while back, DC got the champions of angmar (?) of which the only one I think still active is the Aboriginal storm god that showed up n Multiversity. Marvel took care of their parodies better in this case
