Crazy rich guy wants to marry Luane and Peggy doesn't approve of it. Luane lords it over Peggy because the guy is rich and handsome(she's gonna marry up and shit). Guy turns out to be a complete nutball and only wants Luane because she looks like the old mascot girl for his meat packing company. He even wants her to dress up like her and shit. Eventually Luane wants no part of the crazy and tries to get out of it. Peggy tries to rescue her, guy ends up dead basically.

This is hands down the most fucked up thing in fiction The combination of shattered gems being a mix of death and some sort of lobotomy, then with the romantic/sexual undertones of fusion.
Creates some freakish hybrid of necrophilia and rape, except their shattered psyches are stitched together and in constant pain both from being together and trying to escape eachother.
Closest example I can think of is Jared from the Superjail episode Donor Monster, except in Donor Monster the parts weren't in constant pain and there was nothing sexual/romantic about it.

Police Chief Pizzaz Miller gets constantly sexually harassed and propositioned by the creepy and clearly evil Mayor Eo Jaxxon. At the end of the episode she reluctantly agrees to have sex with him several times a week in order to save the police department from being dismantled. This becomes extra dark when you consider that we never find out when this "deal" between Pizzaz and the mayor ends, meaning she may have still been having to have mostly-unwilling sex with him after and in-between the episodes that followed.

Viewers know that fusion is a romantic/powerful thing. Fusion isn't meant to be sexual. Besides it'd be less of an orgy and more of a bunch of amputees dumped into a fuck-machine mecha, sloppily piloting it, each writhing motion making some sort of command of violence for the bot.
Few people (percentage-wise at leas) have such a specific fetish, and very little to no children/teens do.

It's the artstyle; the whole thing has to be stylized to fit the show's artstyle.
The real horror comes from how that would look in real life.
Not a kids show but Bojack Horseman tricked the audience into thinking it was a lame Family Guy tier comedy until the half way mark. The comedy later on got better too.
Then there's Moral Orel, which is a classic at this point.
