Look, the PPGs worked with their design because the entire show was simple, geometric designs.
Yeah, everyone else looked more human, but they were still... almost Hanna Barbera level basic designs. Flat shading, simple shapes.

So hearing the name "Bellota" after all these years shocked me. I had seen episodes in English since I lived in the US for some years, so there's also that. I never got used to the spanish names that got changed in translation.

Definitely. I just finished watching it and it was a throughout joyful and satisfying anime to watch, specially if you're a PPG fan.
PPGZ is with no doubt one of the best tributes to the original series made by a country that specializes and is the absolute king when it comes to animation, called Japan.
The anime version of the characters are outstanding and entertaining, the soundtrack is top notch and each episode has a positive message to give at the end of each event while still having non-stop hypnotizing, funny, serious and dramatic moments in it.
A 10/10 for me.
Watch it OP, you won't regret it, specially if you're a fan of the original PPG as I said before.

The unicorn goes through medical procedures (which is obviously an analogy for SRS) and becomes a monster, which basically says that post-op trans people are monsters themselves.
