Watched it. For some reason Disney is releasing their films earlier here in my shit third world country (same thing happened with Zootopia and Ultron).
Liked it. Some parts are different from the 1967 version (I can describe the plot if you'd like). It's a lot edgier too.
The "visually revolutionary" part is basically throwing so much CGI on the screen that it looks pretty good and real.

It's stated that while monkeys are cowards they still usually fight if they outnumber the enemy ten to one. But they never even think about fighting Kaa, even if they are an hundred against him alone.

Everybody was afraid of Kaa in the book. The only one that wasn't is Mowgli because he didn't know him yet. He was one of the oldest animals, and one of the most dangerous.
Also sherekhan in the book is know literally as "the lame tiger" and he is mainly mocked about his injury making him a bad hunter and having to feed on livestock to survive. He's more a social manipulator that tried to use the law of the jungle to obtain the right to eat Mowgli when he was a defenseless baby.
