Is this the first Thomas Wayne to actually try fighting Joe Chill and getting killed for it? Because it sure as well is the first Martha, and I feel it's wildly missing the point of what the Waynes were all about.
>>
>>81583895
Well, it would be silly for the Comedian not to.
>>
>>81583895
>Weirdly missing the point
That's Snyder in a nutshell
>>

It's definitely not the first but I can't remember where it happened before

You were the autist who was sperging about the April Fool's prank because you couldn't namefag and then tried some ass pull about how namefags are important because they keep /pol/ away or some shit. Kindly kill yourself in as painless a way as possible
>>
>>81584004
It's literally lifted from DKR. You thought Snyder was original enough to come up with that by himself?
>>
>>81583895
Is the point that Martha should just stand there and die and not try and defend her child?
>>
>>81583975
But Thomas survived there. Hell even Martha did.
>>
The opening scenes were Bruce's dreams/memories. The events obviously didn't happen the way they were shown. This is evidenced by the fact that Martha's perils fell down the gutter and into the cave where Bruce was picked up by a swarm of bats. I wouldn't be surprised if the actual event is shown to be quite different in future films.
>>
>>81584029
This was also a dream sequence.
>>
>>81583895

Their point is to be dead.
>>
>>81584029
>Doesn't count, it's a dream sequence.
The othe one was a dream sequence too.
>>
>>81584097
To be fair, in FTMWHE he's seeing his ideal version of what happened (his father defeating Chill). When his parents die, it's because he's fighting back for control against a sentient plant.

For all we know, the dream sequence in BvS is literally what happened up until the bat christening.
>>
They were all about marey sueing money into feel good things and getting shot down infront of Bruce by a mugger in an alley.
>>
>>81583895
It was moronic. If a guy has a fucking gun on you and your family and he wants money then just give him the money.
>>
>>81584037
The gun thing was not. DKR had the pearls break without the gun in the panel, and it was much more refined.
Snyder had to add the gun barrel breaking the pearls because he's convinced he's way smarter than he actually is.
>>
>>81584297

It makes the scene far more dense, anon. The density quota in BvS is off the charts!
>>
>>81584297

Also real pearls are knotted between each pearl. Breaking the string only scatters the pearls if they're fake.
>>
There's criticism and there's nitpicking.

I bet if Nolan directed this scene, it would go by without comment.

>>
>>81584004
How would the pearl breaks from the gunshot? They are hard to hit with bullets
>>
>>81584471
Boring, and they get shot so fast you can miss it if you blink.
>>
>>81584506

It doesn't matter, it's just a basic visual metaphor. Snyder doubling down on the poetry makes it become laughable.

>>81584524

That's why I like it though, it's just this quick and horrible thing that happens.
>>
>>81584551
This is one time slow motion would have helped.

Like in Burton. It didn't matter that Joker was the killer.
>>
>>81584524
I forgot that the death of Batman's parents has to be sexy and cool now.
The whole thing looked like a perfume commercial and is indicative of Snyder's retardation.
>>
>>81584578

>Burton

That one was pretty good. It fit well with the rest of the movie.
>>
>>81584112
For real tho. People read all this shit and think the Waynes have to stand for some specific principle, when really their only function is to die and motivate Bruce to become Batman.

If they would approve of Batman, if they fought back, if they were upper crust and disengaged with the poor or if they were caring philanthropists... That's all down to the writer of the time to decide.
>>
>>81584014
>“If you look closely you can actually pinpoint the exact moment his heart breaks in two.”
>>
>>81583895
>Is this the first Thomas Wayne to actually try fighting Joe Chill and getting killed for it?
No, that happened in the comics too.
>Because it sure as well is the first Martha, and I feel it's wildly missing the point of what the Waynes were all about.
Batman's mom was always named Martha.
>>
>Thomas isn't a coward in this version
Great.

>>81584004
You're more pathetic than Boco.
>>
>>81583895
If Martha got shot in the head how was she still alive when she was laying on the ground?
>>
>>81584821
I figure the waynes being philanthropists is kinda needed to justify batman becoming batman. You see people say 'why doesn't Bruce just spend all that bat money on orphans instead of gadgets' and you can just point to his dead philanthropist parents and say 'clearly that alone isn't good enough in Gotham'

it raises the point that while Batman might not be as big a philanthropist as he could be, his actions make every other philanthropist in the city safer so their good work isn't cut short, which probably adds up to a larger amount of money making it to charity each year overall.
>>
That scene is very clearly taken from the beginning of dark knight returns. The only difference is the pearls getting caught on the gun and breaking when it fires, as opposed to just being caught on his arm and breaking when he pulls away.

>>
>>81583895
>wildly missing the point of what the Waynes were all about
The Waynes were all about dying senselessly in an alleyway while Bruce watched. They are a plot device to enable Batman. Nothing more, nothing less.
>>
>>81584524
>and they get shot so fast you can miss it if you blink.

That may have been intentional to show that things that can change your entire life can happen in a split second. Or perhaps to show that even though this event would change Bruce and Gotham forever it was ultimately just a mugging gone wrong. Just another crime in a crime-ridden city. Nothing special.

Whether it was intentional or not I much preferred it to BvS. Not everything has to be super slo mo and close up and overly dramatic.
>>
>>81586303
Huh. Bruce's dad was Dick Tracy, apparently.
>>
>>81586549
Here they died due to their own comical stupidity though
>>
>>81585322
Kek you are a fucking pussy who clearly doesnt live in a major city. I had some crackhead try to mug me at a gas station and I punched him in the throat and starting beating his face in with the handle of my knife and he ran off.
>>
>>81586549
In many iterations Bruce feels insicure about wether he's as much as an upstanding man as his father or not
>Am i helping the city like he used to if i dress like a bat? Would he be proud of me?
That sort of shit
Sure, their main role is just to die, but that doesn't mean they can't be more
>>
>>81583895
It happened in Burtons Batman
>>
>>81586604
Doesn't matter at all. The point is that they died, and Bruce couldn't do anything to stop it. Mission accomplished.

There is no "point of what the Waynes were all about".
>>
>>81586652
Go back to school dude
>>
>>81586655
Different context, he didn't try attack the man with the gun, he was defending his wife from the other thug, which was even surprised by how Joker decided to kill them

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4F9RzLqKu2g
>>
>>81586716
Context doesn't matter he fought back
>>
>>81586762
I guess you're right in OP's context of "would they Waynes really fight back", but on the other hand it matters because it's not as stupid as directly assaulting the man that's pointing a gun at your face
>>
>>81586588
I'm okay with this headcanon. especially since Tracy practically invented the modern 'colorful' rogue's gallery
>>
>>81586812
>hes never had anyone point a gun at him the post

>he thinks if you give a mugger your stuff they will just go away

Have fun watching him rape your wife in front of you
>>
>>81586812
The man attacking his wife could have had a knife or a gun. It didn't matter he attacked anyway to defend his wife.
>>
>>81586861
Please do tell me of the brave times when you fought a mugger to save your wife and her boyfriend's son
>>
>>81586942
That's not how a narrative works, if the movie wanted you to think the other guy had a weapon too it would've let you know

But this thread is pretty pointless, in the end since both comics and other media made it in different ways it's just a matter of preferences

It's canon. It just happened in other universe, just like the movie
>>

Not to mention his parents being philanthropists and his dad being a doctor help justify his no killing code in universe. He was raised by people who believed in things ike rehabilitation and the hippocratic oath.
>>
>>81588104
I wish he put more effort into the 'dance with the devil' thing
the way the Joker says it, and then apologizes and explains it's just a thing he does, it makes the whole thing seem really contrived and insincere, like the script itself drawing attention to the fact that he has zero reason to use that as his catchphrase, it was just chosen arbitrarily as the sequence of words to let Bruce know Joker was the one who killed them
>>
>>81588562
more like da PUSSYcratic oath amirite
>>
>>81588654
I guess that could be seen as a sign that he was always prone to spectacle during his criminal activities, even before the Joker transformation basically "outed" him, but yeah, it was mostly just a plot device to make Bruce find out who he was

Any other way wouldn't have fit with how the Nolan Bat-films were filmed and would have been really jarring. He didn't use stylized photography or slo-mo shots. Which goes along with his version of Batman being grounded without any super-powered super villains or supernatural phenomena. It might not be to your taste but it suited the films overall style.
