Even with ripping Taskmaster's face off, probably not as edgy as Joker.
Just extra crazy Batman

more like batman's and the crazy version of elemental girl's son

its an interesting char but i don't like him much in the main MU

I really missed MK. I do hope they will stick to the short story arcs/switching creative teams like they did before Marvel went all batshit insane.

Also Khonsu is written with an s, not a shin in Egyptian, Marvel pls. Check your glyphs.

Oh man, the art is so good. Looking forward to this.

Do you guys remember when Bendis gave Moon Knight his own Hollywood movie in-universe?

Moony's always been my favourite cape but Interpretations of his character are as schizophrenic as he is.

I'd love with some staying power over a few more issues.

He seems to work best as - less superheroics and a little more spy-fi. The arrogance of Stephen Grant - the playboy affluence... Having Marlene and Frenchie - and that lifestyle opposed to Lockley, Crawley and Gena.

Moon Knight has a really excellent stable of characters and settings. It really confuses me that people seem to bypass that stuff so frequently.

I love the Konshu stuff and it pissed me off no end that Bendis basically ignored it. The spectre of death and resurrection - the Egyptian aesthetic that also seems to suit a grimy film noiry ambiance of a time when America was facsinated by the aesthetics of the Empire and their relics... It all comes together so well.

But no matter how good the past few writers have been - I'm still waiting for a longer ongoing that feels more established and confident with who Marc is and the world that he lives in.

One of the things that I think is the most interesting aspects of MK is that he is SO untapped. We don't really understand his relationship to Konshu - or what his powers are or could be. If I was penning a series I'd love to create a slow-burning story of Marc slowly realizing over the course of many missions that he needs to go on a pilgrimage to 'meet his maker' as it were.

I've always loved how the other Marvel heroes never know what to make of him. Maybe have a larger catastrophe that sets off the chain of events that pulls in their involvement. I'd love to see what characters like Black Panther and Doctor Strange would make of Marc's ramblings.

tldr: MK is severely underutilized considering how much potential is there in the character.

Sorry for the blog post. But I love Moon Knight and am hyped to get more of him.
>>
>>81548165
I like the D.I.D part that lets him go from ass kicker to a guide of souls.Im not sure how I feel about Konshu flip flopping,I feel like it would be nice if he was the last refuge for the knight but the aspect of him constantly testing knight (ready to dump him at a moments notice)or sometimes actively working against him/empowering his antagonists is also interesting
>>
>>81548202
There's a really nice relationship between the two that it feels like writers seem to connect with and want to explore. Another anon argued to me once that he thought it was best that Moony seems to get so many small stories told from so many different perspectives - but I hope Lemire shows an interest in staying on a little longer (and that the series is popular enough that he's able to).
>>
>>81542526
I wish they kept the coloring/inking from the previous pages throughout the entire run. It seems like this is what the series will look like going forward and it's not nearly as good as the previous pages of the uncolored preview ones.
>>
>>81548310
I hope they keep a balance - I quite like the idea of a dual-style thing that represents the psyche and the exterior world... It'd suck if they just used it for the opening.
>>
>>81548165
>I'm still waiting for a longer ongoing that feels more established and confident with who Marc is and the world that he lives in.

Marc is a just a cipher for what the story needs him to be.

His character has been ragdolled by khonshu and others so many times there's not a whole lot more to him.

I really don't think Marvel is ever going to give you what you want.
>>
Apparently one of the variant covers. I'd kill for a poster of this.

This is a variant cover indeed. It's by Marco Rudy (replacement artist for the one originally solicited variant cover artist that never submitted his work to Marvel in time).

I'm in almost total agreement with you.

But I think he's an unstable character that can be depicted with a sense of stability nevertheless. I think there's a fascinating aspect to a character that others have so heavily recruited and tried to manipulate. I also really do love the class thing that he had as Grant and Lockley. That was a lot of fun.

There's always Moench to go back to even if Marvel don't play ball with my personal whims and tastes.

>>81548448

I disagree. The colors look really good.
>>
>>81542389
are we getting another goddamn origin story.
>>
>>81548996
No, don't think so.

>"This series opens with Marc Spector in an insane asylum where he's being told he's never been Moon Knight, that Khonshu and his entire life as a super hero have been delusions brought on by his mental illness," editor Jake Thomas explained to Marvel.com. "I mean, we all know Spector is crazy, but what if he's really, really crazy? Marc begins to suspect something is seriously not right at this hospital, but just because they're out to get you, doesn’t mean you're not crazy."
>>
>>81549050
yeah sorry I only saw the first page and jumped. this looks like it'll be pretty good. was hoping to get back to something more akin to vol. 3 instead of following the ennis stuff but this looks to be a good mix.
>>
I haven't been impressed by Lemire's work at Marvel, but I'm looking forward to this and I have a feeling it will be better than his usual work. I like what he says in interviews and the art looks amazing.

>Marvel.com: With Warren Ellis and Declan Shalvey’s run on MOON KNIGHT, the character is looked at in a different light—something that you, Greg, helped to continue with your story alongside Brian Wood. What about this character was a creative draw for you both?

>Jeff Lemire: I’ve always loved Moon Knight. I’m a massive fan of Bill Sienkiewicz, so I’ve studied all his work in depth, and his Moon Knight run along with Doug Moench is what really made me love the character in the first place. And I thought Warren Ellis and Declan Shalvey did a masterful job of re-igniting the character. Most of all, I love that Moon Knight allows a chance to use the super hero genre to explore themes of identity and mental illness. There is a lot of untapped potential.
>>
>>81549095
>themes of identity and mental illness. There is a lot of untapped potential.

This part concerns me, seems like it could lead down an agenda pushy road. especially with the "we need to talk about mental illness" stuff going around.
>>
>>81548589
is this book cancelled yet? his was literally the only part worth reading so far. (I haven't read todays)
>>
>>81549249
>is this book cancelled yet?
No. The artists next in line are Marguerite Sauvage, Annie Wu, and Tula Lotay.
>>
Cautiously optimistic. Lemire's Marvel output has been pretty shit, but maybe he'll channel whatever he used to write Green Arrow.
>>
>>81549249
>>81549278
I'm honestly only reading the book for the art. I love the rotating artists gimmick and the concept behind the comic has a lot of potential, but I can't believe how boring Robinson's writing is.

With a better writer the comic could've been amazing.
>>
>>81549324
the end of issue 4 had to be the worst thing I've read in a long while. the art was about just as bad in that particular issue too. looked like crayons.
>>
>>81549364
I quite liked the art in the newest issue, which surprised me because I usually don't like Pulido at all. Maybe it was the coloring, but I thought it looked good.
>>
>>81548589
His art really isn't suited for comics.
>>
>>81548650
Yeah, the coloring job is poor, it looks better in b&w
>>
>>81549443
Alright, been reading comics for two days straight trying to catch up, I think I got 1 more week to read before I get to today's comics. So I'll be more excited than normal to read it.
>>
>>81548766
it should be brought up only when Wonder Man is involved

Didn't Bendis also manage to run Moon Knight into the ground by driving away it's small but profitable fanbase?

I'm still here anon. He didn't drive me away - just pissed me off something fierce.

I'm always quite surprised Moon Knight seems as popular as he is - on /co/ at least. As soon as people talk about their favourite heroes he always seems to be one of the first names to pop up.
>>
>>81542957

I dunno, I like it when he dabbles in supernatural.

Ellis had a good thing going, with Moon Knight's different personalities and different costumes all lining up with the sort of threat he was facing. Mr. Knight for the street level stuff, the more traditional outfit for the international superhero stuff, and the bone outfit for supernatural stuff.

I think the volume after Marc Spector: Moon Knight was really good at peeling back the skin of the character to see what made him tick. And the narration banter in the first issue was hilarious

>He seems to work best as - less superheroics and a little more spy-fi
I think that's why I love Valiant's Ninjak so much, the current run anyway. Never could really get into the original run of the character
