The Lois Lane bullet forensic subplot drained important screen time and was completely pointless. All it did was lead her to "Lex is evil and was involved in the desert" right before she got kidnapped by the russian guy who she saw in the desert which would of lead her to the same conclusion anyways. I would go to far as to say that the Lois Lane subplot crippled the film.
